Burned enough in your lifetime?
When did you realize you were doing it? Or did it require a lot of conscious effort to do it, and why? And are there others you've burned but would have to sit down and think about and recall first?
I've found that some I've done quite deliberately, but there are others that I never intended to burn, but somehow over time I've found there is nothing there to keep me trying to pursue something that happened years ago.
And this goes for so many things--people, places, jobs, friends....even attitudes.
If I were religious, I'd quote the cliche, "when god closes a door, he opens a window" but I don't believe that, either. People will always have options, and not every bridge is lost forever--sometimes you can rebuild, it's just a matter if you want to or not.
Can you think of the first bridge you burned?
I can't remember exactly, but I can remember the kind of circumstances it would have been: going on a vacation trip, meeting a new friend with whom you share everything for several months, and then you get their address and promise you will write often, and at first you do. But then you get wrapped up in something new, whether it's school or something else, and the person soon falls from your memory permanently. You don't mean for that to happen, but it does, and it's the way it goes.
