Does anyone use a propane smoker?
I am looking into getting me a smoker and yeah, I know... wood is the only way to go to BBQ blah blah blah. But I am looking into all types. I am just curious about a propane one. I mean, if it takes two tanks to smoke a brisket, I don't think it would be worth it. :)

Anyone here have any input on this or other types of smokers? I would appreciate the input. Thanks.

6. That's how I started.
Now it's logs of wood, very little charcoal, and only lump charcoal, no briquets. The ashes can go into the mulch. The flavor is much deeper.

5. Propane is for fast. Smoker is for slow.
Getting ready to do a steak on my gas grill.
I would defy anyone to know it wasn't done on charcoal.

I have used a Brinkman Cajun Cooker, the one that looks like R2D2?

with a pie pan of pecan wood (or hickory) chips on a pie plate on an electric hot plate.
If you want smoke without actual cooking that works great.

7. They have gas smokers
It uses the same principal as any other smoker. It's not a grill, it is a smoker and still takes hours to smoke your food.

My neighbor has an electric one and he said he has made some pretty good food in it. But I am just looking for information from anyone who uses an electric smoker or a gas one.

8. Check out the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker

This site has a lot of information on it. If you're interested in learning about different kinds of smokers, ask in the forums. There are some very knowledgeable people there. But I have one of these and it works great.

10. The answers you get might be somewhat biased, but I've noticed that a lot of these
BBQ gurus have 5 or 6 grills/smokers. I'm sure you'll get an educated answer.

I love my WSM!

I just meant "we" as smokers other than me. :)

Congrats on the quitting, that's been a month or so...no?

15. About 6 weeks.
Give or take. It's going well enough, I guess. We'll see how long it lasts, my previous best is 3 1/2 months.
