2. Wireless means you can get network signal over the air |
|
within proximity of a wireless access point. Bluetooth means you just ate a raspberry popsicle.
Seriously, though.. Bluetooth is more for high proximity communications, where there's not a lot of transfer bandwidth needed - such as between a laptop and a printer, or between a laptop and a mouse. Configuration is reportedly easier with these devices.

4. So what does it mean if a computer does not have bluetooth? |
|
I am laptop shopping and there is one that I like around a 1000 dollars but it mentions that it doesn't have bluetooth. Am I missing much?

first of all, it really isn't that useful. The only thing I could see myself using a bluetooth connection for would be using a wireless keyboard / mouse on my laptop. But even if you were to do that, you could just buy a bluetooth adapter, so IMO, if the lack of bluetooth is the only thing stopping you from making the purchase, go ahead and buy.

10. Incidentally, I own that exact laptop. |
|
Except I bought mine before Vista came out.
It's a great unit... My only, and I mean only, gripes are that the speakers do not sound as good as previous Pavilion models due to placement - and, the DVD burner is kinda slow, because it's a laptop unit.
Also, be prepared to remove crapware from it when you get it, but once that's off, it's fine.

3. "Wireless" typically refers to a network connection - to connect your PC to the internets via a |
|
wireless access point (WAP or AP).
Blue tooth is usually a method to connect to a wireless device... like a printer or speakers or digital cameras, etc.
