Smoltz? Bonds has hit at least 8 off Smoltz.

I'd walk his ass every damn time he comes up, from now until hell freezes over. The only pitcher who could pitch Bonds would be Bob Gibson, from the "Old School!" Gibbie might walk him, or he might knock his big ass down! That would have put the fear of Gibbie into the Big Fat Cheater.

1. That'll teach him to screw with the "integrity" of the game

2. Al Downing will be looking in on this one.
He gave up Hank Aaron's 715th home run on April 8, 1974.

4. And is forever remembered for that.
Nobody wants to give up 755 or 756, especially to Bonds. Do you think anyone will pitch to him?

5. I'd love to see him against Roger Clemons or Pedro Martinez.
Both of them would give him something high and inside. Both would probably say they were not headhunting, but that Bonds head is so big, that it accidently got in the way of the pitch.

BONK!

21. That's what I would do
granted not with the bases loaded and the game on the line. We all know he abused drugs but I do think that MBL failed to do their job for years concerning steroids and they are partly to blame. Walking him is the best solution to prevent him from breaking the record.

13. Many will walk him and not be remembered for it.
Only one will go down in the record book as giving up No. 756.

14. So?
You think Al Downing's life ended on April 8, 1974? What about Tracy Stallard? Ralph Branca? Jack Billingham?

"I think people have a tendency to look at me as if that moment defines my career," said Downing, 66, who retired in 1977 after winning 123 games in 17 years in the major leagues. "I always tell them, 'That moment was Henry's moment. It wasn't my moment. It could have been anybody on that mound giving up that home run. Henry was the common denominator.' "

Bonds has homered off 443 pitchers. Whoever gives it up will be in a lotta company.

And you bet your ass there'll be a list of the guys who walk him. Like I said, I'd much rather be on the shorter list, because that'd mean I didn't wimp out.

15. And I admire that.
If I were to pitch him (were I a major league pitcher, of course), I'd pitch him high hard and inside -- a little chin music on the first pitch just to loosen him up. Of course I was never known for CONTROL as a Little Leaguer ...

16. I hope he knocks the ball out of the park
Hank Aaron is no God and too many people make way, way too much of this. If he was white I wonder what you all would have to say then. No one seems to hate that steroid taking wrestler who just killed his family a few weeks back.

Race is absolutely NOT the issue here, if you've been following the posts ... IT'S THE STEROIDS. That's why I refer to Bonds as "Big Fat Cheater." Aaron did it without cheating. As for the wrestler, did you even READ any of the Benoit threads?
