A hairy spotter is a bloke who helps ye exercise.

He is there so if you drop the barbell out of abject weakness, he can run and call 9-1-1.

He is there to count because you're too busy lifting big weights to be able to count at the same time.

He is there to give you moral support, even beyond physical endurance even though we all kid ourselves and say they are there to tell us to stop when we ought to.

Best of all, he is there so if you drop a weight on your bollocks, he can run to the nearest broom closet and laugh and hope the security camera taped it so he can send it to the funny home videos programme...
