There's one case in which even I, the Grammar Überhauptsturmbannfuerher |
|
will always dangle a participle.
Yes — 'tis true.
Because "Blow up shit" just ain't as funny as "Blow shit up."

isn't that acceptable way to render an umlaut (vowel+e dipthong) when you don't have a typecase that allows umlauts?
always wanted to know this from a german speaker.

7. It is absolute acceptable |
|
to spell ae, oe and ue. No question. What I was "complaining" was that he had the "h" on the wrong spot. He spelled Fuerher. But it is spelled Fuehrer

that's ending a sentence (phrase?) with a preposition, which Winston Churchill said was something up with which he would not put.

15. Actual, "blow up" is a verbal, or verb expression. |
|
In most cases it is accepted, even if it seems to break the rules.
Nowadays, the study of grammar is considered to be more descriptive than prescriptive, but there might be situations where it would be considered inappopriate stylistically.

another would be telling someone to "up shut the fuck!"
Just doesn't work. I say, let your preposition dangle when it feels right, just don't do so in front of the kids.

16. Reminds me of a joke... |
|
A benighted gentleman once walked upon the grounds of a highly educated, articulate, and civilized society. He approached one of the fine citizens of this advanced and highly evolved group and queried, "Hey, man, where's the library at?"
Shocked at the statement, the questioned replied, "Sir, here in the rarefied atmosphere of this highly cerebral and correct environment, we never conclude our sentences with a preposition."
Without a pause the benighted and verbally crass man repeated his question, "Okay, where's the library at asshole?"

18. that's just ending a sentence with a preposition, and there's no rule against that |
|
well, not really anyway. The positional preposition prohibition was a misapplication of a misunderstood Latin grammar rule. There's really no need to follow it :)
