I haven't heard lightening in several years (a search of the archives will confirm this, I'm sure, because I posted nearly the same thread then). It's rained a 1/4 inch here and a 1/4 there, of course, but certainly no lightening. We're only supposed to get two inches a year in a regular year ... and we're in a drought.
Most people think of rain as an annoyance. Some (farmers) think of it as a commodity. But you know people above the Arctic Circle? They wear that light-thing on their head so the drastic change in seasons doesn't affect them? That's how I feel. My daughter, who is entering middle-school, has never seen a real thunderstorm. No concept of what pattering rain sounds like, or firing up the hurricane-lanterns because the power's out.
In the immortal(paraphrased) words of Jimmy Hendrix: 'Scuse me, while I step outside.
Okay, technically I heard the sound PRODUCED by lightning, which is called "thunder." It's been a while, though.

I don't think I've ever heard lightning. Are you sure you didn't hear thunder? It has apparently been a long time...
:P
I hope you get rain, whatever you heard. :pals:

4. The record for "no measurable rain" is actually tomorrow. |
|
There's water dripping down the windows and everything... I am SO happy!

I'm not familiar w/ you technical terminology, but if the word "thunder" makes you happy, then I'll go with that. :) See how long it's been?

3. Gee, where do you live? |
|
I know that I miss lightning and thunder here in Seattle. Summer storms are the best!
We do get plenty of rain here, though. :)

6. Seattle is on my "top five places to move to" list |
|
After NY, Chicago, Maine, and Arkansas. I've never actually been to Seattle, but they tell me it's rainy there, which at this point I is a plus (I live in Vegas).

7. Oh, yeah, we do have rain here. |
|
Unfortunately, we don't get much in the way of actual storms--just lots of gray days and drizzle.
I miss real storms!

But meh, that'll happen when it happens, haha. I'm trying to enjoy the ability to stay up past 4am for one last week before I start my new job.

darn it - one of the negatives of living in the Bay Area - they happen occasionally (read very RARELY) but never seem to be as good as the ones i remember from my midwest childhood.
