has he read other Tolkein before?

Children of Hurin is a bit heavy. If you're not used to Tolkein's style, it reads a bit like the King James Bible.

8. shorter, and easier to read
the first books of the Silmarillion were HEAVY, like slogging through the King James Bible. Children of Hurin is a bit lighter, kind of like Shakespeare. Once you get used to the style, it flows nicely. But it took my brain a while to get into the proper frame to digest it properly.

4. I saw it on the bargain shelf the other day.
It got a lot of attention before it came out, but haven't heard anything since.

Is it any good?
