Anyone heard of the Wipers?

I just found out about them a few weeks ago and ordered the Wipers Box Set which is a repackaging of their first three albums with tons of bonus tracks added. They rock! It's no wonder that Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, etc worshipped this band. Greg Sage defined "angry young man" and influenced countless grunge and punk rockers.

I loved punk rock- the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and on and on- and I don't know how I missed these guys but they deserve much more kudos than they ever received.

2. How did a band like the Wipers come from Oregon?

You usually think NYC, London, LA, but not Portland. But in the words of James Brown, "Good God! Hit me!"

3. Great bands were busting out all over the place back in those years.

A very fertile period for rock and roll, even if many of the bands are known only belatedly, through those whom they influenced.
