A required series for any sci-fi buff.
You should read them, starting with the robot books, then the Empire books, then the Foundation books.

I haven't read any of the books, or seen any of the films, so I'm thoroughly confused by reading the spoiler threads, but slightly intrigued to find this book has death and cruelty and mayhem in it. I thought they were children's books, even though I know several adults who really liked them.
Of course, I've read the Grimm fairy tales too, so it shouldn't surprise me that children's stories have mayhem and carnage. :D
