Is there an overweight person in Canada?
The TV show "Just for Laughs" is being shown on ABC now, although it is produced in Montreal. I kept noticing that not a single person in any of the street scenes was overweight. Every single person was thin and healthy looking. A dramatic difference from the United States.

8. Well when one of the best traditional meals we have includes a topping of fried pig fat...
It's to be expected.

2. I would say that there probably are but they are invisible.
As an overweight person, I am trying to become invisible so I won't hurt people's eyes.

4. At first I was thinking, "Where is this place, where everyone is so stylish and fit
and healthy-looking?" Then I noticed signs in French in some of the scenes and I thought, "well this is either Canada or France." The gates to Montreal must be 12 inches wide and if you can't fit through them, you can't get in. This must be followed by a fashion inspection, intelligence test and sense-of-humor injection. It's like a city of handpicked people.

16. Yup. Montreal is filled with metrosexuals. It is a European city.

6. There are in eastern Canada!
As a girl growing up in BC, we often made fun of overweight americans. Canadians are catching up, however. People in big cities tend to be more fit, here and in Canada. That's what you're seeing in Montreal.

Sigh. Time to visit Montreal. It's been a while.

10. Apparently Yes
One in four Canadian adults is considered obese, a dramatic increase over the past 25 years, Statistics Canada reports.
According to results for the 2004 Canadian Community Health Survey, which measured most of the 35,000 respondents' height and weight, 23 per cent of all adults are obese, representing 5.5 million people.

14. I've go to Montreal for business once a month.
Trust me, there are plenty of overweight people there and no real difference with any American city. TV can shoot hours of footage and edit it down to the most beautiful minutes.

17. Yes. Alex Lifeson.

Compared to a lot of overweight Americans, however, Lifeson seems trim.
