Typical cat, always about their needs and penchant for chaos and the suffering of others.
Seriously, though, that's pretty cool - I do think that some animals can sense things that we haven't figured out how to sense yet. I don't think it's any kind of mystical thing, but probably something having to do with their greater ranges of hearing, sight, and smell.

Ornery bastard, an alley cat through and through who wasn't terribly fond of people but, when I was really sick (which was often), he'd curl up next to me and purr and knead the blankets.

|
We had a neighborhood kitty who was an outdoor cat, until one of us inside the home was ill. Then she'd come to the door, meowing incessantly. If you didn't answer the door, she'd go to the window of the patient's bedroom. Once you let her in (you pretty much had to, she was making so much racket), she'd go straight to the patient and jump in bed beside them.
Cats are wonderful creatures. :)

|
My mother used to work in intensive care. There were people there dying, who did not have a single person in the world - no relatives, no friends who cared to visit. At least once a woman asked her to hold her hand while she died. My mother did that for her. It didn't take long. So sad.
I'd say that lady would have appreciated having a cat curled up next to her.

|
She's a Brit and was doing her residency (or whatever the Brit equivalent is) in Liverpool.
Her Border Collie/German Shepherd mix, Flossie, went to work with her on every shift. It was in the 60s, and things were a bit more laid back then.
One day Flossie crawled under the bed of a terminal cancer patient and began to howl. The patient died that night.
Flossie did this several times. Her predictions were so accurate that Tish started leaving her at home. She was scaring the shit out of patients.

For Tamiflu to be most effective you need to take it after having been exposed to the flu but before you start noticing symptoms. It will still work in you take it after you've has symptoms for a couple of days but no more than that.
Seems a kitty tipoff could help with that.

I would have liked to know when my aunt was dying, so that we could've said proper goodbyes. It was kinda hard for us to know it was coming, when only an hour earlier she'd been answering her e-mail, printing out the bank statement, then watching TV with my mom, before going back to bed for her (usual) nap. :(
It hit us so unexpectedly, I still can't believe she's gone....

When my dad was in the hospital dying of terminal cancer, my mom talked to the one nurse and told her she knew he would just love to see his cat one last time.
The nurse looked at her, winked, and said "What I don't know won't hurt me." She came home, and we went back, sneaking the cat into the hospital. My dad's eyes just lit up with happiness.
If I was going, I'd love to have Oscar curled up next to me. A purring contented cat is very relaxing and calming. Couldn't imagine a more peaceful way to go.

About 15 years ago, I had just gotten a bird, and then came down with the flu. Didn't the bird climb down the cage (it was a standing one, and I kept the cage door open), walked across the living room, climbed up onto the couch (where I was laying), then onto me and started preening the crown of my hair, and then my eyebrows. He was trying to comfort me - I was just blown away by the intuition of this very young, very beautiful bird.
Hi enigmatic! We got a bit of relief from the heat, tomorrow it'll be going back up again.
Have you been to/plan to go to any of the festivals? The Works, Street Performers Festival, Taste of Edmonton, the Ex, Heritage Days evening? :hi:
I was at the TOE last night - it was either all or nothing; mostly great food or "can't I take that back?!!".
Hope you're enjoying your summer!

Believe it or not, no! I've either been busy at the hotel or on roadtrips around Alberta and Saskatchewan; we're seriously thinking of moving to Saskatoon or Regina next spring. We're both sick of Edmonton; it's getting too dirty, too decaying, and way too expensive for us, and we want more mellow place to live.
I've got comp tickets thru the station for the Folk Fest the night Blue Rodeo is playing so I'll be there handing out station flyers and business cards while Mrs. E shakes her head at my shameless networking:D

53. Not Having a Clever Comment of My Own, |
|
here are some responses from an NFL message board:
So I guess this cat : jarrodbunch : 7/26/07 11:10 AM is like the opposite of Hello Kitty.
Imagine if he : Beez : 7/26/07 10:59 AM actually TALKED and foretold of the deaths. Now THAT would be something.
So, if the cat curls up next to one of the patients : Kulish29 : 7/26/07 10:45 AM they call the family? Imagine having to explain that over the phone.
Just one more... : FatMan in Charlotte : 7/26/07 11:10 AM reason to hate cats. Now I know why they avoid me, they can foresee their own death.
dangerous pu$$y : GiantsLaw : 7/26/07 10:59 AM
So you think : leatherneck570 : 7/26/07 11:27 AM the doctors try to help those patients that the cat goes around? Maybe that's what the cat is trying to do,"hey doc...this one's going, just grab that O2 mask over there ..doc? ok, put down the camera...stupid humans!
