So I'm getting rid of my dishwasher and hauling my dryer to the dump |
|
I am going to give a real go at not replacing either. My dishwasher is dying and my dryer has broken a belt. In the extra time I spend doing dishes, I gain on drying stuff on the line. It took 40 minutes today on the line to dry a full washer load. I wonder how long I will last with two teenagers? Although I have trained them to wash their own dishes and hang and take down their clothes off the line, it still is a different lifestyle and takes a bit of getting used to. Wish me luck! !

1. just put 'em on your front lawn |
|
with a sign on them for free. They'll be gone by the end of the day. Recycle instead of just dumping them. Someone may be able to use the parts. Especially the dryer since it's only a belt. Some of us have to use a dryer due to allergies.

3. I was just kidding, our town recycles and I can't put them in the dump |
|
I have to pay someone to pick them up and dispose of them properly:)

2. At least you can take solace in that air drying is a lot better for your clothes |
|
and honestly I could probably end up living w/o a dishwasher; lots of times I end up washing the dishes somewhat then put them in the dishwasher.

a family of 4, a dishwasher is more enviro-friendly than doing them in the sink.

7. It's been over 10 years |

since I had a dishwasher, other than the two on the ends of my arms. LOL And two months ago, I stopped using my dryer and began using the clothes line. Unless it's humid out, they do dry faster than they did my old dryer. And, like you said, I can still be doing other things while they dry. Also, it doesn't heat up the house the way the dryer tended to do. So far, it's working out really great.
Hope it all works out well for you! :hi:
