What ever happened to Whit Stillman? (Metropolitan, Barcelona, Last Days of Disco...)

Hasn't done a movie since 'Disco.'

I wasn't a real big fan of his, and felt he suffered from Fitzgerald Syndrome (hanging with the wealthy, secretly wishing he was one of them)

But I always thought his films would be art-house staples....

1. he always did take a long time between movies

there was a four year gap between each of them, but this is an unusually long layoff. I've seen his name pop up now and again with one project or another, but nothing ever comes of it, and nothing is listed in the works on imdb. :shrug:

I think you're pretty spot on with the Fitzgerald syndrome, but I still like his movies because some of the writing is really great ...

2. I loved Metropolitan....

Such great dialogue. I'm paraphrasing here but my favorite line from that movie was: "Tom? Hmmmm...you should call yourself Tommy. It's more U.C."

No explanation of what "U.C." is or why someone should want to sound more like it. Just bullshit social minutae. Loved it! :thumbsup:
