Family's Swimming Pool Stolen Including The 1,000 Gallons Of Water In It
<snip>

PATERSON -- Someone stole 1,000 gallons of water from Daisy Valdivia's backyard. And they didn't spill a drop.

Valdivia woke Wednesday morning to find that her family's inflatable pool, hip high and 10 feet in diameter and filled with water, was stolen from her backyard in the middle of the night. There is no evidence that the water was poured out, pumped out, evaporated or drunk.

"I've never heard of a pool being stolen, let alone one with water in it," Valdivia said.

According to Valdivia, the theft must have occurred between 1 a.m., the time her husband went to bed, and 5 a.m., the time she woke to put out the recycling.

"For them to do something that fast, that's what amazes me," she said.

Valdivia, a lifelong city resident, moved into her home on McBride Avenue just five weeks ago. She and her husband purchased the bright blue pool for their three children less than a month ago. They never expected that it would be stolen in a neighborhood Valdivia described as "a nice, quiet area."

10. What amazes me...
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 03:27 PM by MysticalChicken
...is how they moved it at all, if it were still filled with water. If you've never tried to pick up a large bucket of water (I had to do this almost every day as a kid when feeding our chickens), it is incredibly heavy stuff. They wouldn't have been able to pick it up if it was an inflatable pool, and dragging it would surely have sloshed water out the sides.

11. That only leaves the alien theory. Incredibility thirsty aliens.
They probably took the pool thinking they could get the container deposit back.

I love the part where the Tomatos roll down the main street gobbling up people and causing general mayhem.

25. contractors stole it, it's already installed at somebody else's house
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 04:26 PM by pitohui
talk about organized crimes, they will also go to people's residences or places of business and steal the landscaping and i am talking about LARGE trees

this is not an amateur job, these contractors save big bux by stealing things like this instead of picking them up legally

imagine quoting a job where you install a pool, the trees around it, and maybe even the flowers, shrubs, and sod with NO costs except the labor

but that labor had better be well paid so they don't rat you out about business practices

i can't believe the jobs around here that require BIG industrial equipment to pull off the theft, yet somehow no one ever figures out that it's organized crime and organized efforts, my husband's boss was hit TWICE at his new location for his landscaping trees

after katrina, entire neighborhoods were stripped of their architectural details and no one can say where these items vanished to
