Do you dream about work?
I'm a relatively new nurse and I constantly dream about work stuff. I never feel rested anymore. Ahhhh! :banghead:

1. When I've been working hard, or trying to solve a problem,
yes I dream about it, and it sucks... Although, I have solved many problems through a nice lengthy nap.

2. Every job I've had I dreamed about it during the firtst few weeks.
Now I still dream about it occasionally. When my worries over work allow me to sleep, that is.

3. yes; I once dreamed my boss beat me
As some sort of punishment.

I've also gone to work naked in my dreams and had weird dreams about my coworkers.

4. Yes
I've been retired four years, and I still dream about work.

Except, in my dream I know that I'm retired, and I just need to decide when to go home and never go back!

I liken work dreams to the dreams about college, where it's final exam time and I haven't been to class all quarter.

5. When I was working in hospital I was always dreaming of work
I'd wake up in a cold sweat convinced I hadn't got the meds out.
Can you get a job as a visiting nurse? The stress is negligible!

8. I'm ok right now.
I want and need the experience. I deal with a lot of gyn surgery, gyn oncology (including palliative), and antepartum (with fetal losses :(), but I will likely (knock wood) move to regular post-partum in the next year or two. That's kind of been my plan all along. I just want to reinforce all my skills really well. It's not terrible, but plenty to learn still at the same time.

6. Oh boy!
I'm a nurse too, and my last job was a nightmare. I had the kind of supervisor that was always assigning people to do things for which they had neither the experience nor the training.

Just before I left that job, I had a dream in which my supervisor came to me and told me she had a new assignment for me.

"What is it?" I asked, warily.
"It's a piece of cake", she replied. "You're going to love it! It fits your interests perfectly!"
"And it is.."
"You're going to be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts".

AAaaaarrrrggghhhh! :yoiks:

I've slept a lot better now that I no longer work there. Sometimes you don't need Dr. Freud to tell you what your dreams are saying.

9. Fortunately, my boss is great.
Yesterday, we had a call-out and our nurse manager helped out and took assignments, gave meds, etc. She's so hands-on. Not every nurse manager is like that.

Sometimes though it is funny how my mind puts stuff together. Some really bizarre work scenarios have happened in my dreams.

10. Yes, even during summer break.
During the school year, I dream about teaching frequently. There are two different ones: I missed school and forgot to (or couldn't) call off; and, I have a huge class of unruly students. I hate both of those dreams so much! x(

13. Whenever I dream about work
at some point in the dream I'm in jail and trying to break out. Seriously.
Not so many anymore, but a lot with my last few jobs. I don't think that I need a shrink to figure that one out.

15. Back in the day
Edited on Thu Jul-26-07 09:59 PM by XemaSab
I had a dream where I got up at 3 AM, did a murrelet survey, did a few point counts, and rounded it off with about 3 hours of plover surveys, finishing at about noon.

Trust me, when I ACTUALLY had to wake up at 3 and do all that shit, I was NOT HAPPY. :grr:

18. That's one thing I love about my job.
When I'm out the door, the thoughts about work switch off. Unless I dealt with a shitty patient who drained me I have been able to leave work at work. I don't dream about work. Thank god for that.

21. My dear SarahBelle...
When I was working, then I'd have dreams about work...

Now that I'm retired, I rarely have them....

But when I do, they really scare me...

I suspect you'll settle down and your anxieties will ease up...

22. I'm unemployed and wake up after having dreamt about a full days work and
a job well done. I feel so great when I wake up until I realize I'm not getting paid.
