Poll question: I just finished the Deathly Hallows on CD. Can't find the others, so here's my **spoiler** thread. |

Which Harry Potter book did you enjoy the most?
And why?
On edit: I personally enjoyed Book 7. I appreciated that the plot meandered away from Hogwart's into the less predictable terrain of the "outer world." The book did wander a bit in the middle, but I believe any other way would have felt contrived and too easy. It would have taken Ron, Hermione, and Harry a rather long period of time to unravel the mystery that Dumbledore wove for them, and I think Rowling upped the stakes just enough to make that portion interesting. However, I think the rather lengthy conversation between Dumbledore and Harry at the end dragged a bit. Rowling relies too much on conversation to reveal her secrets, but overall her incredible attention to creative detail has made the entire series remarkable. I'm really taken aback by what she has been able to construct in only ten years of writing.

...it was the first book where we were confronted with Voldemort and for me it was the turning point in the series. This was the first death of someone we cared about and found out that even students die. It was also the beginning of Harry being shunned by his peers. It was the first of the darker books.
My least favorite was #3.
Cheers :toast:

Because the character development matured, the story got darker and more complex, and Harry's longing for his parents became more poignant. I found it the most emotionally satisfying.

It's got my most favoritist scene ever (Snape's Worst Memory), and it's got Umbridge.
What more could you want?

5. I mourn for Severus Snape... |
|
I KNEW he wasn't the totally evil bad guy he was playing on TV... suspected he would be a tragic hero, and there was more between him and Lily Evans than just that one Snape's Worst Memory.
I can see how it would be his worst- not so much because of the humiliation, which was bad enough, but he shot his mouth off ("Mudblood!") and by doing so lost Lily for good.
His dying words..."Look...at...me" Remember, Harry had his mother's eyes.
Didn't much care for the sunshine-fluffy bunny epilogue, but when Harry addressed his son as "Albus Severus" that made up for a lot. I wondered how Harry was going to come to terms with having to do a complete about-face in how he regarded Snape.
