33. She's a real talent. She shines in that format, such as it is. |
|
Then, at 7 AM PT, she takes over as one of the MSNBC anchors, at least that's how it is going this summer.

8. I can't say I disagree. What should I watch from 3AM to 6AM Pacific Time? |
|
Maybe I'll go back to CNN on Channel 44 instead of MSNBC on Channel 47.
But I do want to support Mika -- she's a very interesting woman. Her news shift goes on during the morning hours after Scarborough and company depart. That's the good news.

is sexual harassment. Tweety is right behind him on this.
I was a FAITHFUL watcher of MS NBC. I now have CNN on television.

7. Bring back Imus. Admittedly Don is a crude racist, but he had |
|
insightful conversations with a wide array of guests. Joe is a smarter version of Tucker. All he is is a mouthpiece for the Republican Party. And when he has Willie Geist on rather than John Sidley, if you close your eyes and just listen to the dialogue, you would swear you were in a frat house at Dartmouth. Joe, Willie and Tucker are prime examples of the deleterious effect of privilege on intelligence and morals.

11. Hi Chieftain. I don't think Don Imus will be back... ever. But who knows? |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 10:19 PM by Radio_Lady
Stranger things have happened.
I've never been at a frat house at Dartmouth, but I did live in a women's dormitory called Twin Pines at U.C.L.A. We weren't that privileged -- everyone worked on a crew to support her room and board. I could have pledged the sorority my mother belonged to at the University of Pittsburgh, but I didn't. I was a solid student and socializing was at the bottom of my list. My mother and father were paying for the schooling, for which I am in their everlasting debt. I wanted to be the very best at whatever occupation I chose. We were solidly middle class, and today, that seems as if it is a real privilege.
Thanks for your comments. I do appreciate your viewpoint.

12. Hi right back at you Radio_Lady. In a better world the choice |
|
wouldn't be between a racist, sexist Imus and a self satisfied ignoramus such as Scarborough. But who could ever confuse tv with a better world? I really get ticked off at these Republicans who live lives hermetically sealed off from the realities that most other people in the world face. Smugness and ignorance seem to be reinforcing attributes and Tucker, Willie and Joe reek of both.

Other than Mika Brzezinski, it's pretty much un-watchable. Funny, because his evening show wasn't so bad. He just seems so totally self-absorbed and full of himself. I can't stand him.

Music on KBPS, 89.9 FM here in Portland (OR), is also an option.
Thanks so much for your comments.

17. I actually like Scarborough |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 03:54 PM by Ava
and Chris Matthews too for that matter. It seems strange to me that so many of my fellow liberals talk about the bias in the media but only when it is conservative. there is no doubt that a majority of the media has a conservative slant, but when someone tries to be fair and show both sides(as i think these two many times) then it's still biased. I enjoy both shows and I also enjoy Keith Olbermann(although he has a liberal bias). I don't think Scarborough is a "fascist pig" and I actually enjoyed his show in the afternoons(though I usually don't get a chance to watch tv that early in the morning since I'm doing schoolwork or something else during that time).

I listen to Scarborough sometimes because he has ties to Florida, where I used to live.
Also, he has some interesting guests and I really like newscaster Mika Brezinzski (the spelling of her name is difficult, though... two Z's and I get it wrong periodically).

25. "Morning Joe" Scarborough comes on at 3 AM - 6 AM here. The only time I deign to hear him is... |
|
Friday, when I get up at 4:45 - 5:00 AM, and get ready for my radio shift.
There are not too many TV choices at that hour -- but I also could listen to NPR radio or other things.

27. No idea what the demographics are for "Morning Joe." Maybe somebody else knows... |
|
Here in Portland, Oregon, it would still be people on the night shift at 3 AM to 6 AM.
On the East Coast, it's 6 AM to 9 AM -- now, those would be more closely considered for viewership numbers I would think.

Where I live, it must be on from 4:00 until 7:00--some overlap. But since I usually hit the road at 6:00...no thanks!

29. Exactly. The further east you go, the more you get into morning drive time. |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 09:43 PM by Radio_Lady
Now, if the show is NOT delayed, you get the actual broadcast at the East Coast time. I think that's what they do with Fox and Friends, but up until now, I haven't paid much attention to that program on Friday mornings.
That's what happened with the CNN Presidential Debate. Scheduled for 8 PM ET/5 PM PT (adjusted for other time zones), my husband missed the first outing, while I saw most of it. I believe CNN then replayed the debate at 8 PM PT, and then probably other times during the all-night period.
We get Lou Dobb's MSNBC program at 3 PM PT, Keith Olbermann at 5 PM PT, etc. Larry King is on at 6 PM PT from the West Coast origination point, then repeats at 9 PM and 12 Midnight PT.

I'm cool with my timezones, having lived in three of them and had family in four, but when the delay factor is added, it screws me up!

32. I completely agree. Very confusing for anyone. |
|
Especially when trying to reach NYC employees in the morning hours. Have to do that every workday. If I wait until 9 AM Pacific Time, they've gone to lunch. That's a built-in problem that is formidable.
