Religious logic
So I'm leafing through a Guideposts magazine (don't ask) and there's this article about these people with a church volunteer agency helping to clear out homes damaged by Katrina.

Now my first thought is why is it that it's left to volunteer organization to be doing this two years after it happened but I continue.

The gist of the story is that these people clear out this house that was totally demolished and in the wreckage, they find the owner's waterlogged family bible.

And they ooh and aah and can't get over it because this proves that god really exists. Because this fucking bible wasn't completely torn to pieces (mind you, it's wrecked - they showed a photo of it - waterlogged and ruined but intact).

This is logic that escapes me. Hundreds of people dead, thousands displaced, homes destroyed, lives destroyed but the presence of one lousy bible proves that god exists and just loves us. :wtf:

1. see the thing is, religious logic is one of them there oxymorons
and speaking of morans, if I was a woman of faith (and I'm really still on the fence here) I'd say that the fundies work more for the advancement of the devil than they do for the advancement of god.

2. Consider the source
If it gets people through the day to think that mere coincidences are divinely inspired, more power to 'em.

13. that's nothing - check out this logic
http://www.fstdt.com/fundies/random.aspx

"Gravity: Doesn't exist. If items of mass had any impact of others, then mountains should have people orbiting them. Or the space shuttle in space should have the astronauts orbiting it. Of course, that's just the tip of the gravity myth. Think about it. Scientists want us to believe that the sun has a gravitation pull strong enough to keep a planet like neptune or pluto in orbit, but then it's not strong enough to keep the moon in orbit? Why is that? What I believe is going on here is this: These objects in space have yet to receive mans touch, and thus have no sin to weigh them down. This isn't the case for earth, where we see the impact of transfered sin to material objects. The more sin, the heavier something is. "
