Any Fans of "The Family Guy" Here?! |
|
I love that show. I know. I know. It's a "Simpons" derivative. Everything is a derivative of something else. Heck, you could say that "The Simpsons" are a derivative of "The Flintstones" or "The Jetsons". Dont't get me wrong. I love The Simpsons as well, but I also love "The Family Guy".
Best line ever from "The Family Guy": As Peter is sitting on an elephant, he says, "Hey, look at me Lois. It's the two symbols of the Republican party, an Elephant, a middle-age White guy afraid of change".
Does anyone know if there any plans to bring the show back?

1. when i first saw this post, your quote is the first thing i though of... |
|
I've got the first 2 seasons on dvd.
There's another funny bit where they're talking about what if kurt cobain went into rehab and didn't kill himself. kurt said "... and this is my wife, courtney love!" where peter promptly says "Who?"
I think it's going to be one of those series that are held in high esteem long after it's been cancelled, but it'll never get back on the air.

I can't remember the link, but it has now been comfirmed that due to the enormous success of the dvd's, Family Guy will return to primetime tv. However, it isn't know if it will go back to Fox or stay on Cartoon Network. Expect new episodes to debut in January 2005.

It was confirmed by the creator, and I posted the original thread on it in the Lounge about a week or so back.

2. I had not seen it early on, but |
|
I see it now on satellite. It is funny, I should pay more attention to the exact times it is on and catch it more often.

6. Flintstones derivative |
|
The Flintstones are a palaeolithic copy of "The Honeymooners". Save the fat protagonist drives a rock scooper instead of a bus???
Yeah, I love Family Guy. It is "kinda" derived from the Simpsons. But "Family Guy" despite is title is targeted at a err... "mature" audience. Peter and Homer are both insensitive. Unlike Homer, Peter is smart and sadistic. The "Megalomaniac Talking Baby" is the antithesis of sweet little sucker popping Maggy.
The Plotlines in family guy are absolutely iconoclastic. They are 100% NOT politically correct.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

7. Never watched it when it was on the air. The ads pissed me off. |
|
Had I known that Fox always aired the stupidest parts of the show as commercials, I may have watched it. Because it looked like a horrible sacreligious Simpsons rip off with a talking dog and baby as a gimmick.
Now Simpsons are still making episodes and they suck, and Family Guy is only on late night reruns, but they RAWK! (pumps fist).

14. I'd Rank Family Guy Ahead of South Park |
|
South Park is sort of hit or miss to me, and they can be too mean-spirited at times. Family Guy hits the right tone every time. It's brilliantly written satire.
