What Was Your 15Minutes Of Fame
I was on the cover of American Airlines Travel Life Magazine December 1989

They flew me to Hollywood for the photoshoot first class
Stayed at the famous Mondrian Hotel in a suite
Took the whole day, and over 100 pictures to get the best one!!!
:hi:

1. I was on our local PBS station's quiz show a few times.
Quizbusters. Ugh. They'd run re-runs for a couple of years, apparently, and it was weird to have kids come up to me at school and say they'd seen me on tv. I'd never really thought that anyone would watch.

3. One day back in the 5th grade when the Governor came to our class to talk to us.
And just as I was finishing up asking him my stupid question about government, I hiccupped, burped, and farted at the same time.
He smiled, and asked me if I was okay, as everyone was laughing their asses off - even my teacher was giggling.
I was known from that time on as - "that weird kid".

4. I used to dance on a local TV show like "American Bandstand."
Of course, it was a really low-budget attempt at an imitation.

7. I held 2 high school records in track
For 6 years.
Of course, I also won several races and got my picture in the paper for that.
I suppose that is rather small time local fame though.

November 22, 1963.

Also, a grocery store health magazine used a picture of my feet once.

10. I watched Romper Room as a kid.
Wasn't that a rather odd date to be on it though?

19. It went to air live
I remember being there five days in a row, late morning or early afternoon. I believe we were pre-empted that particular day, but they went ahead and did the show to keep us kids happy; that was prolly the day, I recall, that Miss Ann seemed a bit on edge.

11. I was a radio announcer and music director for a few years.
Had many brushes with the famous guys. Had a modicum of local fame myself, as well as a pretty loyal following.

12. Family was on "Fantasy" on NBC when I was a kid
Relative wrote a letter and they made it come true. Don't know if anyone even remembers that show. Think it came on in the afternoons. It was pretty short-lived.

14. I did a television segment at 16 for a local TV station in Dallas.
When I was 22, my silhouette was used for a promo for a local TV station news segment.

When I was 24, I was in a holiday commercial for a local TV station in New York City.

I have also done a lot of print press - quotes, etc.

16. A speaking role in a really bad local 'comedy' series
Comedy in quotes because it wasn't funny. Was supposed to be, but wasn't.

I was on for the full half hour. It's so obscure IMDB doesn't even have it listed, which is just as well. :P

Also looked terribly stupid when Pierre Berton asked me a question beyond my 9th grade comprehension in a taping of "The Great Debate" on cbc. :silly:

17. I was the subject of an exposé in the National Enquirer
The reporter interviewed me over the phone twice, claiming he was doing a piece for California magazine. A few weeks later I saw my out-of-context quotes in the National Enquirer. I still have two copies cuz, after all, they spelled my name right. :D

22. I was recognized all over Flagstaff, AZ
I acted in a few plays, and for months after each performance, people on the street (or from their cars) would yell my lines to me, or compliment me. I could be standing in line at the coffee joint, or at the bank, or crossing the street. It was a trip.

I was featured in a few of the local alternative weeklies, and interviewed in the studio of a local TV station too. Good times. :-)
