But thanks for playing along.
She's got over 142K Miles on her and her transmission is starting to get cranky. Also, the AC died YEARS ago. I need a new car.

23. 2004 Lexus ES330
But I'm planning to get a smart car next year when my lease is up. It will be quite a change, but I really want to save money on my car payments and gas, and do my part for the environment with mileage over 40 mpg. I test drove one a few days ago.

34. I agree
but I'd probably still switch. I've loved my two Lexi (this was my second one), but I really want to cut my car payments.

I had wanted to get an American car this time, but couldn't find a hybrid or high-mileage car that fit my requirements. And most of the Japanese hybrids were almost as expensive as my Lexus by the time I got them equipped the way I wanted.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the smart car or a MINI Cooper, and I'm leaning toward the smart car because it's so much less expensive.

I am actually getting pretty tired of "wine culture"...been working too close to it for too many years, I guess. I grew up in Napa, so maybe I just am tired of the way it changed the valley over the years...

We have three Volvo's as well, two 20 year olds and a 23 year old! All run great, the two 20 year old 740 wagons are totally rust-free (neat trick in New England). I will never buy another new car ever again. Next is another 240 sedan, got another kid soon to be driving. :)

..it's a baby, I'm still breaking it in. We've got an 850, 850 Turbo wagon and a 740 sedan.

I'm jealous of the 240, that car is the best Volvo ever. If it's manual, it will run forever...those cars just don't die. :)

no doubt about it, but I do some contracting work for our church and you need a truck or cargo van to lug all the equipment and materials around.

the f-150 gets about 15 city/19 highway I think, and the crown vic gets about 19 city/25 highway.

There is a metal pipe in with the jack that screws into a hole in the front bumper. It has a ring on the end that is just perfect for tying stuff down. Guess I should read the manual but it's handy for tying down the kayak.

You can't get a better car for the price.

I bought the hatch because I thought it was a good mix of sporty and practical. And it looks good!

I mean, I love roadsters like the Miata or the Saturn Sky but I don't see how to transport a kayak with one of those!

And in one year I have had no mechanical or other problems with it.

This thing's getting up there in miles and there's really nothing of similar size on the market. I can't really go smaller and I don't want a minivan because I don't want to pay more for gas, so I might wind up replacing it with a mini-ute. I'm keeping an eye out for a good deal on a Escape hybrid.
