Woohoo!!! My son stood up for the first time today!
Only 6 1/2 months old and he's pulling himself up on all the furniture! Yeeeaaargh!

Sorry. Just a proud papa.

3. Thank you, thank you!
Plans are already in the works to rearrange the furniture. Fortunately, the liquor cabinet is downstairs, in my office, where it belongs...

2. Don't apologize!! Enjoy it. Many bruises to come
I remember the days of having the corners of the tables and the lower stairs of the staircase "bandaged". Little people are amazing to watch.

4. My wife is already searching online...
to find places that sell bumpers for furniture. My brother used them with his kids and I'm anxiously awaiting his email.

10. Gadgets are ok, but mine used to always figure out a way to get around

them so I quit spending the money on them. Toilet locks, VCR locks (one of mine fed the VCR cheerios at 16 mos. 'cause he thought it was hungry), cabinet locks, BIG locks (undo the latches on the other side and swing the door open surely the parents won't notice that the door is hanging strangely), climbing on top of the 'fridge cause the knives and other sharp contraband have been moved up there....

I figured those child safety things bought me just enough time to hear noises and then move very quickly to investigate!!!

6. Just remember to help them become independent and resilient...
Don't run to him if he falls...just wait a few minutes. If he doesn't start crying or if he's not really hurt, just let him get back up on his own. It's the best thing you can do for your little one.

8. Thanks.
I learned that when he learned to sit up. For some reason he has a fascination with feet (mine included. I haven't been able to sit on the couch with my feet on the floor for 2 months...) and insists on eating them (usually both at the same time) while trying to sit up. Otherwise, he's pretty smart.

5. You do know he'll be running tomorrow, right?
Or at least it'll seem that way. Wait a minute. You dare to post about a baby walking and you don't post a picture? For shame. We want to see the little guy! :)

9. Actually, 5 minutes after he stood for the first time...
while I was on the phone with my wife, he went to every single piece of furniture and tried to pull himself up.

How do I post a pic, because god knows he's about as cute as they come.

16. Thanks...
He is pretty precious, isn't he? Actually, the corall thing was bought for my dog, before he became 130 lbs. Didn't work, he climbed out of it, which Michael is learning to do.

7. Silly parents....
We encourage them to walk and talk...then spend the rest of our lives trying to get them to shut up and sit down. :-)

Enjoy it proud papa, these moments go way too fast!

17. Ha!
He didn't shut up and sit down when all he could do was "shut up and sit down"!!!

I don't expect that to change. My mom was saying something about "payback"...
