5. Primarily.
They have broadened their sound a little bit lately. As far as I'm concerned no one does traditional Irish music better.

4. I went to the Cape Breton fest two years ago and really fell in love with
Mary Jane Lamond (among others).... Check her out, though (and go to Cape Breton if you can).

6. Let me introduce Seven Nations to you.
They have a few CDs out and I have seen them live. Rock music and celtic music combined. Just a little something extra to add to your celtic collection.

7. I just was listening to Solas' debut CD again tonight. It is awesome.
I'm going to a Irish music training camp on San Juan Island in March, and John Williams (Solas) will be teaching button accordion -- my main instrument these days, Dáithí Sproule (from Altan) is teaching guitar, my main instrument for 25 years.

I'm really pumped!

I also really dig:

Altan
Mick Moloney
Robbie O'Connel
John Whelan
Clannad (for the lighter side).

9. For those who are unaware, artists are not getting paid by Green Linnet
If you've purchased the compilation CD's from Green Linnet (I have several), the artists have not been getting the royalties owed to them.

Do you listen to Thistle & Shamrock on NPR? If not, check it out--http://www.npr.org/programs/thistle/about/index.html

I'm fortunate to have an Irish Festival just up the road every August. Last year, we had Altan as one of the headliners. This year we're getting Danu and Gaelic Storm (five stages of music, a fair number of local and regional bands as well). We've also had Cherish the Ladies, Niamh Parsons, Seven Nations, the Prodigals...and for the Celtic punk group, Flogging Molly (I won't tell you want the traditionalists said about THAT, but hoo-ha!)
