Why do I have a preschooler and a puppy |
|
when I overstimulate easily and can't stand bedlam? They're adorable, but man do they play rough. I spend my time trying to keep them from hurting each other, not entirely successfully. Last weekend the puppy bit my son's ear and pulled, leaving a horizontal gash that required three stitches to sew up. The kid loves the puppy and has entirely forgiven him, but he now hates doctors.

you're a good Mom? We do things for our children that defy reason and logic. I did the same thing for my daughter. She wanted a cat, so I got her a cat even though I'm VERY allergic to them. We're pushovers. ;)

I had to re-read the name on this post...thought maybe I'd posted it when I wasn't looking! :D
I have a 3 yr old and a 3 month old pug puppy, so I totally know of what you speak. BUT...I also have a 13 yr old, a bulldog, a ferret, and a short bus president. ;)
Thus, I win. :D

My boys are 8, 5 and 2. Crazy rough play is my life! The dog hides from them!

5. We got a puppy when my oldest daughter was two |

and my son three months. It was tumultous. Now, they are all grown up, and we are on our second dog. All things pass. Just give it time.

Yesterday I found the chewed rump of a bathroom scrubber sponge in the dog's area. Today he pooped on the floor. As I went to clean it up, I wondered, "Why is it green?" Sure enough, he had eaten the sponge and pooped it out, hard green scrubber and all. Tough little bastard.

or cat makes a lot more sense much of the time. Kittens and puppies are a lot more work and are often not a good idea with very young children in the house. The animal shelters usually know which of their animals will be good with children, and you're saving a life that way.
Just my two cents.

I would've been ok with a pound dog, but I'm married to Mr. I-Want-a-Fancy-Dog.
I love our puppy and am committed to him, but dang he is a lot of work.
