Just finished researching all of the Dem candidates |
|
Well, not all of them. Just the powers that be's designations as the "major candidates." There are somewhere around 30 actual Democratic candidates.
Dammit! That was like work and shit. I was at it for about 7 hours. Obama's site alone was like reading a whole text book on political science.
My favorite candidate is Kucinich. My pick to win is Clinton. Who's your favorite and who's your pick to win?

How lovely to see you!
My favorite candidate? Hard to say, actually...I like Kucinich too....and Edwards, and Richardson...
And likewise for my pick to win...I just have not made up my mind yet. I'll support whoever it is, though...

2. Edwards is my 2nd favorite. Don't care for Richardson |
|
I wouldn't feel too bad about voting for Edwards. I question his judgement in his Iraq war vote, but he has since recanted that vote saying it was the wrong thing to do. I really like his proposed initiatives to help the poor and the working class.
I don't know if I could support all of the Dem hopefuls. I have a real problem with some of the candidates' Iraq war vote and their inability to just say that they were wrong. We'll see.

3. I'm still not done hoping for Gore |
|
but I'm leaning strongly towards Edwards because I like his focus on working class issues. I used to be a big fan of Hillary but I'm disappointed in how centrist she is and the fact that she (of all people) hasn't opened a serious dialog about universal health care.
Three of the people I would most like to see on the ticket aren't running -- Gore, Feingold and Bill Bradley. I suspect that Feingold would accept a vice presidential nomination though. Wonder if Bradley would do the same. Must be said that I think Bradley and Gore may be more value to the progressive cause outside of politics writing and speaking from the heart about what's wrong, what needs fixing and real ideas on HOW to actually do it.

5. I like Edwards for the same reason |
|
And like you I am very disappointed in Hillary. Not only for her war vote, but, like you, for the fact that she's become a moderate. Didn't she help Bill campaign for universal health care during his presidency?

7. I haven't heard much about Gore's probability to run |
|
I don't think he will. It's getting kind of late to throw your hat in the ring it seems. Maybe you can give me a little education on this.

Has Gore been ambiguous about his intentions? I know a lot of people want him to run, but I don't know if that will translate into a candidacy. Kinda like last time around.

12. i think he has left himself plenty of 'wiggle room' |
|
there is only one definitive way he can answer the question to rule himself out and that would be for him to say:
i will not seek office and, if elected i will not serve.
until i hear those words i remain hopeful.

9. yeah, I like Gore/Clark too |
|
gotta announce though
it is early
Gore Clark would be a kick assed ticket though WH
I mean the environment and a thinking general who made it through the ranks without just being a "good old boy"
a couple of brilliant people that could actually make a difference
Edwards gotta get back on the 2 Americas or something, I liked him a lot last time and supported him over Kerry.
In the end, I'll vote for whoever has the D behind their name

I might be able to do that, but I'd feel real shitty about it if it were Biden, Clinton, or Dodd. They voted to give Bush authorization to wage war in Iraq. It would be a case of, "Well, they can't possibly be worse than Bush or the Republican candidate."

the devil you know or the devil you don't and the D is enough for me right now, despite the fact that I would have a hard time pulling the lever on any of the 3 you named, just would.

we gotta save our planet in terms of it's ability to sustain life as we know it, and we gotta get out of this "endless war" thing that the neocons have on their agenda.

18. A lot of people I've talked to like Edwards |
|
I like him for his ideas about helping the poor and the working class. Even working single men like me. I expect him to make a strong showing, but, like you, I don't think he will be able to overpower the political power machine called Hillary.
I talked to my dad last weekened. He is a Democrat and a union man. He likes Hillary because he thinks that we will have the same economic prosperity under her that we had with Bill. Probably a lot of people out there who are going to vote with their pocket books without looking closely at the issues. Or maybe the public might actually be more conservative than it appears. I doubt it, though. Hillary=moderate seems to be a contradiction in terms, but it's the truth now days.
