Cost Plus World Market: WHY hadn't I ever been there before today??
What a fabulous place.

I bought Belgian chocolate, several varieties of beer, two bottles of wine, German cookies, Dijon mustard, Dad's root beer in glass bottles, Bubble Up (also in glass), and some other stuff. I now know where to go for the lingonberry preserves I need to make my father some tarts and cookies at Christmastime.

2. Check their brand of spices and herbs --dirt cheap.
Also the greeting cards are affordable and different from the usual stuff.
It's a great chain.

4. Aren't they great?
Since Pier One decided to go upscale, and make themselves completely inconsequential (like Pottery Barn but NOT), Cost Plus has stepped in to fill the void of cool economical import products. I used to work at Pier One in the late 80s/early 90s and completely furnished my apartment from there with my employee discount! But lately I go in there are don't see ANYTHING I want. Or I see something, but it's stupidly priced.

I am right now nursing a grudge towards Cost Plus though, because they got rid of their line of kitchen islands JUST as I had reprehensor talked into letting me get one. I haven't found any others that have all the features and the look I want.

We got our gorgeous dining room table at CP (plus plenty of other stuff), and I adore it as one of the wisest purchases I've made during our marriage.

5. wow, I love that store
Unfortunately, it's a long bus ride to the closest one to me. But once in a while I make the trip. Maybe it's a good thing I use public transportation, cuz that limits the amount of stuff I can carry away from there. My favorite purchase:

Yummmmmm!

I'm addicted to these...I could eat them 'til I explode! Only the mint ones. Liquid mint centers. :9

8. Oh no!
My kitchen island is from CostPlus and it still looks brand new seven years later. They did have a good selection. They are revamping their product lines and planning to carry a lot less furniture, which is too bad.

10. Mr. LIW and I found a dining table and bar we want there.
Having just spent a bunch of dough on a home theater system, though, the table and bar will have to wait. Maybe by the time we can buy them, they'll have something we like even better.

9. One of my top four favorite stores....(Target, IKEA, Trader Joe's,, Cost Plus)
They have a GREAT selection of cooking gadgets and serveware, divided by ethnic group. And a pretty decent gourmet food and spice section. I can get in a LOT of trouble when I go in there unsupervised!
