I love roadside art...
Ever since I was knee-high to a grasshopper and went on my first road trip with my folks, I have been fascinated by the excesses of roadside artwork. Fine art is nice, but this is the type of art that I prefer.

Field of Corn...Dublin, Ohio

Coffee Pot Water tower...Stanton, Iowa

And also in Stanton, Iowa...Worlds largest coffee cup and saucer water tower

Rainbow Rock Shop dinosaurs.....Holbrook, Arizona

National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame...Hayword, Wisconsin

House made out of bottles...Rhyolite, Nevada

Herer are some photos of artwork done along a 32 mile stretch of road, near Regent, North Dakota called The Enchanted Highway. All artwork was done by Gary Greff.

1. Here's one I grew up with

World's largest Brooks catsup bottle in Collinsville IL.

BTW I drove past the dinosaurs in Holbrook one late night; really weird at 3 am...

2. Funny, I almost posted the catsup bottle.
Personally, I can't get enough of that type of art. I've seen the dinosaurs in Holbrook, too.

7. I'm into funky old signs and Googie architecture

This was in my home town. It was where the kids hung out when they cruised South Main:

8. I love old signs, especially old neon signs.
Mostly from older neon strip motels from back in the 40's and 50's. Was that Salinas, CA? I know of no other Salinas. And I know I've driven past that first pic, through oklahoma, I'm pretty sure. But, wherever it was, I remember the old building and sign.

11. That's the one, yup
Lived the first 42 years of my life there.

Mel's was gone by the time I started cruising Main, but I remember going there when I was little.

12. Yeah, I can't figure out if there was a meaning to it, or if it was meant
to be just visually pleasing to the eye. I think it looks pretty cool.

18. Thanks. Actually, I used it in some research and have it bookmarked.
There are a lot of great sites concerning road travel and roadside art. It's an avocation of mine. I used to do a ton of travel. Not so much these days, so I just research and reminisce.
