In praise of Southern Rock and Roll
Okay Southerners, you take a lot of crap in here. But no matter what, you all have had some of the greatest rock and roll music in the history of the world come out of your region. Let's take a look at some of the music; Marshall Tucker Band, Grinderswitch, Wet Willie, Barefoot Jerry, Atlanta Rythym Section, 38 Special, REM, Tom Petty, Molly Hatchett, and of course, the two leading lights of the "Southern Rock" genre, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers Band. So long live Southern Rock and Roll! In the '70's we were saved from the scourge known as disco by some of the aforementioned bands, and we will never forget it. So take a bow Southern Rock bands, you deserve it.

3. I didn't mean it for a debate
I just like the great music that the bands were doing and wanted to express it. Sorry if you wanted to argue, er, debate. Long live Rock!

6. DAMN THE DRIVE BY TRUCKERS!
I did a show in Knoxville one night at The Pilot Light the same night the Drive By Truckers were playing across the street.

It wasn't a well attended show (ours) until the Drive-By-Truckers let out.

12. Our drummer was MUCH better
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 07:56 PM by bedpanartist
he's now running sound for The Asylum Street Spankers. Our old bass player from the same lineup is the Spanker's new bass player.

DAMN THE ASYLUM STREET SPANKERS! They keep driving up to Dayton, Ohio to steal our band members!

11. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Bros. and all others I mentioned are Rockers
Hell, one could almost make a case that the ABB were a Blues band. Who the hell cares? If you like it, listen. If not, don't. Got Molly Hatchet on right now and it sounds damn good to me.

18. can't leave out Drivin N Cryin...
Kevn Kinney has and still is writing some great songs.

Fly Me Courageous just listen to the lyrics:

Honeysuckle Blue

Build a Fire

Smoke
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ5L0ZWzvRk

There are tons of songs. Great band that are still out there. As well as the lead singer's solo efforts. I got the chance to meet Kevn here at a local gig. One would never meet a more humble man. Not just a singer but a poet as well.
