ever run across someone who talks about "their money" all the time?
how much they have of it, details about their purchases/financial transactions, details about comparison shopping, or even constantly dropping hints about their bank, as if to insert a point of departure into a mention of their liquidity?

or people who always feel compelled to ask "what do you do?" or offer exhaustive details about what they do, all the time?

what do you think about people like that?

1. I know someone at work who talks about his lack of money all the time...
And he makes double what I do.

It pisses me off.

3. I think they are insecure...
and they want to gain acceptance by trying to impress others with their material "success".

And people who want to brag about what they do probably have no other life.

4. Yes. I had a boss like that.
It was infuriating. He would come sit with us and talk about his mercedes convertible, his second home in Florida, yada yada yada. :nuke:

7. I consider them rude and try to avoid them.
My parents taught me that it was rude to engage in stuff like that. And it is. But it's ultimately kind of sad, because many times the people who behave that way were struggling financially at one time or another.

8. Yes, several.
The most annoying of these people is my sister-in-law, who never gets tired of telling us how much she paid for this thing or that thing; how much profit she made selling her house; how much interest her investments are paying, blah, blah, blah. It's an especially tacky form of bragging.

10. My uncle who was truely wealthy always said
that if people always talk about thier money they don`t really have it. The truely wealthy do not have to remind you that they are (wealthy).

12. the wealthiest guy i've known was very discreet
he had more money than davey crockett and wore a plain timex watch.

he could buy and sell anything all day long, but you'd never know it from talking to the guy.

11. I'm glad you asked, let me tell you about mine.
I have $23 in my wallet and no job. I'll add that I feel considerably more wealthy than
someone who talks about their money all the time.

13. when i was living with my ex gf in houston last winter
she had to babysit this snotty kid for extra cash.

she'd pick me up from the park and ride lot after work and have the kid in tow.

he asked me about my job and if i made a lot of money.

i told him i didn't make much money. he said his parents were rich, and i said, "cool."

i made a comment about being rich in spirit and said that there are lots of ways to look at the same thing.

the next day he told me that his parents told him "rich in spirit" meant poor.

the little bastard was like 10 years old.

16. "it's just tacky," stuntcat bitched
a certain in-law of mine does it, just today 'this in-law' told us her salary and managed to work a lot of talk about money into an hour visit. Sometimes at their dinners money's the subject, a couple weeks ago dinner was all about different places to go gambling, comparing/contrasting. I'm too nice to sigh and roll my eyes, I just shut up and ate. When they said how much they'd wasted doing it I wish I'd had the nerve to mention how many people are starving, to death :eyes:

MY Mom grew up with nothing, she lived in the sticks and farmed as soon as she could walk.. and now she's doing real well and would still never discuss money at a dinner table or with more than one person at once. It's a dirty subject to me, unless it's a conversation with a purpose, like with your SO or a bank or business or whatever.
