1. Why does anything fellow "humans" do surprise you?
The Holocaust
Rawanda
Darfur
Iraq

We torture, kill, and commit genocide every day of the week. To quote Wood Allen, "If Jesus DID come back, he'd never stop vomiting."

We as humans are proof positive that either god does not exist or he is Kurt Vonnegut's God of the "Church of God the Utterly Indifferent." If the converse was true, he/she would have wiped us out to the last scrap of DNA and let something else evolve up to give it another shot.

5. Yes, not surprising at all.
In a large population, you are bound to find a considerable number of people with extremely callous attitudes. Add in the fact that you are dealing with sports fans, who tend to idolize players on their teams, and it's inevitable.

One day the dogs will get their revenge...

17. Please don't lump in all sports fans
I've been known to shed a tear or two for my favorite teams but I'd like to think I'm different from these idiots.

3. In the case of Vick v. Dogs, I'd support the dogs every time.
The dogs have no choice about what they do, because subhuman terrorists like Vick torture them.

4. "...he's made this city a ton of money every Sunday"
"Look at what he has done for this city — he's made this city a ton of money every Sunday," said Hiram Melvin, 50 of Decatur. "This dogfighting has been going on for years. It's not something that just started. It's not a big deal."

Um, so it's the money and a few football games. Mmmkay...

And who's the "American Humane Society" and how do some of these reporters keep their jobs?

doesn't deserve to be called a human being.

7. Did they produce evidence Mike Vick is a Human Being?
I haven't seen any and I don't want to be lumped in with him.

13. Can't be empirically proven.
His humanity is just one of those rumors that swirl around celebs all the time. He's far less honorable a creature than the dog he (allegedly :eyes:) electrocuted.

12. I'm sure they'd be vocally supporting Dick Nobody if he'd been doing it
I'm sure it has nothing to do with Vick being some sports guy. :sarcasm:

Frankly I prefer dogs - human beings make me sick half the time.

Not that it matters to any of them.

16. They speak of 'villifying' Vick
I think it's a far worse rush to judgement to deify him, and other athletes/celebrities, and claim they can do no wrong (except not throw enough touchdown passes) simply because they are athletes/celebrities.

"Look at what he has done for this city — he's made this city a ton of money every Sunday," said Hiram Melvin, 50 of Decatur. "This dogfighting has been going on for years. It's not something that just started. It's not a big deal."

No, Hiram Melvin. What's not a big deal, in the broader spectrum, is being an NFL quarterback — or an NBA forward, or an MLB outfielder, or any other American Idol.

18. Why is the NAACP defending Vick?
On Friday, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference issued a statement and the NAACP has called a news conference for today to ask the public to withhold judgment until all the facts come out in court.

"There have been too many people vilifying Michael Vick before we have full access to information on what allegedly happened," said Atlanta NACCP President R.L. White in a telephone interview.

It pisses me off that race is being brought into this. Vick isn't being lambasted because he's black, for God's sake. He's being lambasted because he RAN A DOGFIGHTING RING. I guarantee the same media circus would be happening if this were Tom Brady or Peyton Manning being busted.

20. It's not about defending Vick at all
What's at stake is that his case is dealt with fairly, which is something that is at stake whenever a high profile black athlete is under scrutiny.

But that aside, if he's found guilty (which I doubt he won't be), I hope he's kicked out of the NFL and spends many a long night in jail.
