Boy Impaled In His Groin By Bicycle Handlebars

A 13-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after the handlebars of his bicycle impaled his groin in a freak accident.

Boy in eye-watering accidentThe youngster, who has not been named, fell off the bicycle after clipping a kerb on Canvey Island, Essex.

Paramedics called firefighters who cut away the rest of the bicycle, leaving the handlebars in his groin.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "The bars impaled him in the left side of his groin by about 15cm.
