People under 50 are noticed more than people over 50. Trust me on this one.

5. I would say yes, but would also add
that depends on your personality and if you actually look 40. If one's personality is more of an extrovert such that they're the center of attention a lot I don't know if being over 40 means a whole lot. Then again I've felt invisible much of my life in any situation at any age.

9. Depends on what you mean by "notice"...
Right or wrong, I think people generally garner more respect as they age. I also think that you can command more respect in sticky situations as you get older.

Also, speaking from personal experience, a male over 40 can finally wear those cool "old man hats" that he always wanted to wear, without looking like a complete idiot.

I'm 48...and I LOVE those hats!! I'm still young enough to look really cool in them, but not so young that I look like some jerk TRYING to look cool. Ah...the subtle nuances of life. :hi:

12. Oh, I love my hats too.
As for trying to look cool, I'm light years away from knowing what is cool now. Which is why I can wear my hats without care. :) Old age is very liberating.

13. I agree with you...
I'm not sure of your age, but I agree with you that every year we get older, a certain order of magnitude of liberation is achieved. I think it has something to do with becoming just a little bit wiser, and knowing what and what not to worry about.

20. My observations...
If you're any age and you are vibrant and energetic, people notice and gravitate toward you. :) If you are any age and you're negative, pessimistic, stodgy, and/or frumpy, people notice and stay away. That's human nature.

21. When TV producers say audiences won't look up to anybody over 45, I'll listen.
Russell T Davies can go to hell for his ageist, cowardly remark.

Here's the context.

People think he takes risks. What risks? His own comments say he's playing into pop culture mindsets. That isn't risk. That's cheap.

mind you, I was quieter and less at ease with myself then.

In general...I don't know, because I'm too busy not noticing who is noticing who.

34. Depends on what you mean by "noticed"
I am in my upper twenties but am often told that I look young for my age. People look at me physically often so in that way I am probably noticed more than someone older. In professional situations though, I have to work harder to be noticed because I appear to just be a little girl who can't possibly be taken seriously. I think from a physical attraction standpoint, younger people are noticed more. From a professional standpoint, older people (although maybe not oldest) are noticed more.
