1. It's a huge ERP... which modules are you looking at? |
|
And for what purpose?
It's an overly complicated PITA.

Just one module can take 7 full time weeks of training just to get certified, and there are many, many modules.
Why?

5. All I know is it is supposed to make things "simpler" but everyone |
|
in my division has received boatloads of training and it still doesn't work.
My favorite part was when one of our managers told us to just keep track of our vacation time since he detested using the SAP system to approve it...so we keep track of it manually...when the prior system (automated) was very easy to use and not an issue.....so the SAP implementation has been a step backward...

7. sounds like your division didn't spend any effort on web enabling |
|
or building the user interface. SAP can be either a huge pain in the ass, or easy and user friendly. However, it isn't user friendly out of the box and requires the portal to be designed around your business process. I've seen both ways and the acceptance difference is dramatic.

11. the company has spent tens of millions on this |
|
supposedly to eliminate all the different packages all the different divisions all around the world are using... we spent weeks in training last year...well ahead of when the system was deployed (bad idea) by the time it came out...no one could remember anything...so then we got web training however the interface is very poorly designed...
it has been a nightmare and I am awaiting the news of "restructuring" in light of the deployment... I think some heads may roll...

13. sounds like a poor user interface design. |
|
Unfortunately, companies will spend millions setting up the system and skimp on the UI. Biggest mistake out there, so you're not alone. Luckily, if they come to their senses, it's not very expensive to fix.

8. Typical German software monolith. |

They don't adapt the software to solve your business problems, you adapt your business to the software.

What an absolutely horrible system..at least for employees that only need to use it occassionally. Not at all user friendly. I'm so glad we don't use it anymore.
