The front desk staff was helping her with her questions, and then she asked to see me because she had some "really complicated questions". She sits across the desk from me and proceeds to fill out a grant application. Mind you, she's a rising senior here with a very high GPA. :P Then the "really complicated questions" started.... And these were all asked in a serious manner.....:yoiks:

STUDENT: "Am I a veteran of the US Armed Forces?" ME: "I don't know. Have you ever been in the military?" STUDENT: "Naw, why would I wanna do that?" :rofl: ME: "OK, you need to mark 'NO' then."

STUDENT: "What is your home telephone number? You mean like my cell phone?" ME (trying not to crack up): "No, the phone number at your home."

STUDENT: "What is your home address? You mean like my dorm room?" :shrug: ME (biting my lip to keep from laughing): "No, like your address at home." :rofl:

STUDENT: "Are you required to register with Selective Service? If you are female, mark 'No, because I am female'. Which box should I mark?" ME (sweating because I'm fighting so hard NOT to laugh): "Are you female?" STUDENT: "Yeah." ME: "Then mark 'No, because I am female.'" :spray: :rofl: STUDENT: "What's Selector Servicing?" :spray: ME: "Nothing you need to worry about, sweetheart."

She thanked me and went on about her business. :rofl: The staff member whose office is right across from mine came flying in here afterward and said, "WTF was that all about?" :rofl:

I am so not kidding here. I had my (very) bright 18 year old do his own application for a checking account when I realized that perhaps my impatience over his young lifetime has not worked to his advantage. Fortunately they snap out of this parent-induced stupor pretty quickly.
