There is a new drug for Restless Leg Syndrome called Mirapex, one of it's side effects is strange...

There have been reports of patients taking certain medications to treat Parkinson’s disease or RLS, including MIRAPEX, that have reported problems with gambling, compulsive eating, and increased sex drive.

Now I wonder, you have RLS and you take this drug, do you turn into one of those little old ladies at the slots in Vegas? Or Ron Jeremy?

1. Ron Jeremy sort of looks like one of those old Vegas ladies. Well, most of him does.

3. It put my friend's Dad right into the locked crazy ward at the hospital for weeks.
He was hallucinating and saying crazy stuff and doing crazy things. Delusional, paranoid, etc.

Took him off the Mirapex (he had just been put on it for Parkinson's symptoms) and 2 days later he was well enough to get out of the hospital.

Mirapex was bad news for him.

4. well i believe it about the gambling
i have honestly observed a much higher than average percentage of people with parkinson's disease at the gambling table than i have encountered in, say, the grocery store

i would not take this drug unless there was no other option and i would want to have some controls on my ability to access my money until i was sure i didn't have this reaction

10. Comment from my husband after seeing that commercial over the weekend:
"Hmmmm....you control Jimmy Legs but it makes you gamble and fuck more. Is that really better than RLS?" Well, the sex part wouldn't be a problem, but otherwise the cure seems worse than the ailment. :yoiks:

Those of you who are Seinfeld fans will get the Jimmy Legs reference.... :hi:

When it came to the character Kramer, a complete nut-job, the many times he would break up with a woman because of a little deficiency she had or something he didn't like it was hilarious. You thought to yourself, "That strange looking idiot thinks she's not good enough for him?"
There was a Newman one too, broke it off with a girlfriend Jerry was seeing because she didn't meet his high standards.

20. I have RLS.
I take one Chamomile capsule and one Valerian capsule when it hits me, and it's gone in 30 minutes. Once in a great while I will have to repeat this dose, if it does not work the first time, but that is very rare. And I've never had the desire to gamble.
