Baby Shower tomorrow

I've never been to one, and plan on only staying for a few minutes. I'm a manly man, and this doesn't really appeal to me!

What should I expect? Never been to one.....(did I mention that?)

1. Expect

2. Last coed baby shower I went to

was pretty much like a regular party. No silly games. There was some present opening, but not too much commentary.

If it's coed, I assume it may break down much like a junior high dance. Boys on one side against the wall, girls on the other.

5. You should expect a little slice of hell.

I'm a girly girl and I hate them. I would rather do my own appendectomy that attend them. Crappy punch, dry cake, fossilized mints. Making conversation with people you don't know and will never see again. Stupid, time-eating, sweet beyond belief GAMES GAMES GAMES. And lots of women LOVES the stupid games and are out for blood to win and pout and dispute the rules interpretation. I didn't even want to attend my own baby's shower.

Edit: Co-ed might be a different story. I've been to those and they can be fun. Same with co-ed wedding showers. Just STAY AWAY from the all girl stuff.

6. I'm a girly-girl, too, and the only thing worse is

a wedding shower.

My way of dealing: enter, say that something's come up (my friends are onto this, but I don't care), drop off the gift, chat a few minutes, wish the mom-to-be the best, and announce that it's gotten late; you've gotta go. No explanations, just out the door.

Mine was pretty low-key and I still couldn't wait for everyne to leave!

7. The games are DREADFUL. UGH.

He would confirm in his mind that women are a bunch of shallow, mindless, petty TWITS. Please, fellas, don't think that there are not a few women trapped in this situation who just hate it. Try to listen carefully for the sound of grinding teeth.

9. It depends on who is throwing it...

the last baby shower I helped produce...the theme was "gay porn". Swear to gawd. (The people attending all knew each other through the homo-erotic fiction community online.) All the games involved porn or penises in some way. All the prizes were gay porn. We made gigantic penis cookies and had a decorating contest. Even the door prizes were porn.

The whole house was decorated in rainbow colors and lights and balloons. It was surreal and everyone had a fabulous time.

Unforuntately for you I doubt that your baby shower will be quite like that. :shrug:

12. I am woman and i hate them..

I almost NEVER attend and all my friends know. They get a much better gift if they don't guilt me into going :-)
