"Buyer's Remorse"... Ever Had It?
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 12:27 PM by arwalden
What was it for? And did you return it or just live with the guilt?

1. CD from eBay
My son wanted the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack for Christmas. I could not find it in stores anywhere, so I ended up ordering it from eBay. I was SOOOOO excited.

1.) It arrived three days after Christmas

2.) The entire thing was in japanese (guess I should have considered that as a possibility, seeing as I ordered it from a guy who LIVED IN JAPAN!)

Did I return it? Na... too much of a hassle, and totally my fault. Do I live with the guilt? Try living with the torture of Japanese Techno blaring through the house 24/7.

2. I used to when I was younger
...Seems like every time I spent more than $5 on anything, I felt remorse afterwards. But over the years I've become a compulsive researcher, and I tend to take a very long time picking out purchases (case in point, I spent about three years researching the TV, and about six months towards the end looking for a smokin' deal).

6. I thought Dell was well known for second to none technical assistance
They won't put AMD processors in their systems... Which is something I've always had against them.

Take a wild guess who I work for.:hi:

8. I use nothing but those processors
Intel would rather see crushed. That's why I build my own, cow-boxes are just as bad as Dell IMO, but I still wish they'd carry that Ferrari F1 sponsoring chip company

9. The people I talk with at Dell
Are nice ....
Service is there to Fleece you whenever they can.
I hate to say it...it's just a pc of crap.

I don't know that much about computers...but I know when I got something bad. When You had a good one...it's just that easy.

15. Yep. And some friends are urging me to buy a Mac next time.
And after visiting the new Apple store on North Michigan Avenue here in Chicago, and looking and testing some of the Macs (particularly the G5), I was most definitely impressed. I'm going Mac when I get rid of my Dell.

I'm especially taken with the look of a Mac. Very nicely designed. :-)

5. Yes, on some pieces of high-end, or higher-end audio equipment.
I've got a couple of pieces of epuipment sitting around the house collecting dust that I paid $1000 or more for several years ago. I don't really have buyer's remorse, so to speak, because I did listen to this gear for years, and liked it.

My 'constantly being upgraded' audio system just kind of outgrew these pieces of audio gear. If I had known everything I know now about putting together a high-end audio system ten years ago, I would have made some different decisions on purchases that I have made.

We live, and we learn. It's an expensive, but very rewarding hobby. ;-)

10. Hair straightening kit
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 01:26 PM by Lostmessage
They sell it at Walgreen's for $70.00 along with a lie that it will straighten your hair and it's crap. I have Caucasian hair and if it can't straighten my hair then it's a bunch of shit.
It was my only Christmas present and it was a hint that my hair doesn't look good. I am looking at it right now and I want toss it down the garbage shoot.

12. Bring it back
Walgreens should take it back..they have 3,000 stores. Let them send it back to the manufacturer.
Even if you don't have the receipt try and do it. Take it back to one of their stores in the suburbs.

11. IBM aptiva in 1997....
I had a motherboard problem where the computer wouldn't get past POST and called tech support to ask them what the set of post beeps implied was wrong. Twenty minutes of waiting and this idiot tech support person said "That sound means you have to take your computer in for service".

I was like...underwhelmed.

13. As a teenager in the 70s, yes
Absurd, ridiculous 70s style clothes. Every once in a while I would get the urge to be cool and buy something outrageous which I ended up never ever wearing. Sleeveless mesh shirts, hip-hugger jeans with ENORMOUS tent-sized bell-bottoms, platform shoes, all kinds of expensive leather jackets (not the good kind, these had weird buckles and straps). For some reason the conviction to be cool never lasted after the trip home.

14. Oh yes, a pre-paid Portrait Plan
Paid a lump sum up front (including $$$$$ for a big fat album) and then always put off taking the family in for the professionally done pictures until the time expired.

That was about thirty years ago and I'm still bent out of shape about it. I was soooo stupid.

18. I fell for an infomercial once . . .
. . . and ordered 4 boxes of NADs. Well over $100 purchase. One for me, one for my mom and one for each of my sisters. They all rolled their eyes when they found out. And the one time I actually tried to use the shit, I drank several shots of tequila, took a couple of Lortabs and used a topical anesthetic to numb the skin on my legs. The neighbors still heard my screams . . .
