A major underlying theme of the 7th HP book (maybe minor spoiler!)

I'm rereading it already to catch a few things I missed the first time through, and I have noticed a very strong motif that I missed the first time through. The issue is that much of the book's plot is about men and their constant necessity to compare the sizes of their wands and how powerful their "wands" really are. Jo Rowling must have internalized a lot of, and disdain for, penis envy in her life. :rofl:

Voldy takes Lucius's wand and is comparing the lengths.

Interesting that Harry does the same thing with Malfoy's wand later in the book. :D

Page 119: Harry compliments Hermione. Harry figures out that Ron did this because he read the fuck-a-witch book and boy howdy he can't wait to try that shit out! DEAR GOD WHEN DID THIS BOOK TURN INTO A CREEPY EXAMINATION OF J.K. ROWLING'S SEXUAL POLITICS?




Page 415: Ron is horribly enthused about having a super-wand. Hermione points out that it's not how super the wand is, but how well you use it. LOOK, I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP, IT IS ALL THERE ON THE PAGE, PEOPLE!

14. Those are hilarious!

It's really funny to look at the story as an adult and pick these things out. It also makes extra fun to see the kids of today looking at the book some years down the line and deriving completely new observations from it!

I browsed the link posted above. It's just hilarious! I still don't think I'd pick up on it on my own if I reread the book though. I'm so horribly oblivious.

16. It took me awhile

After I'd finished the book the first time through. And then I realised that when they were discussing all the different wands (with Ollivander at Bill and Fleur's) they were mentioning the lengths and then it became fairly obvious--younger fans aren't going to get it, though, because they don't have anything to reference it to--at least I hope they don't! And I always snigger when they say men have the worst dirty minds--I think women have just as dirty minds as the guys, but we tend to think it instead of verbalizing it--unless we're alone with other like-minded women.
