Carpenter ants - HAH! We've got freakin' FIRE ANTS!

Bastids are about an inch long, red and black and velvety. You do NOT want to get stung/bitten/molested by one! Or your little dog either!

Seriously, down here in Missifreakinsippi these things are a terrible problem. Carpenter ants, bah!

1. Carpenter ants are huge and nasty and eat your house!

I've been around fire ants too in NV but they weren't that big (1") but bit and hurt like hell! :grr:

They both are a nuisance!

2. Those aren't fire ants.

They're wingless wasps, also known as velvet ants and they're horribly poisonous. We have them here in SC, too. Out on the farms they're often called cow killers.



Fire ants are small. (That's a finger it's biting)


One awful irony about fire ants...if you have them next to a building you aren't as likely to have termites.
