I'd appreciate comments on my latest creation...

Dan Craft FT 4-piece 5-weight blank, with Batson BUL5 reel seat (with maple insert), flor-grade reverse half-wells grip, singlefoot TiCH guides, Gudebrod Size A thread (olive), and Sulky light gold metallic thread inlays. The reel is a Lamson Litespeed 1.5 loaded with Cortland Precision Trout and Scientific Anglers Dacron backing.

This one took me 30 hours to build and my boss bought it as a gift for his Dad.

Ahhhhh...what a BEAUTY!!







Nobody was looking at my rod (pun intended) so I had to change the subject line.

that's a pretty fishing pole for fly fishing.

The only part of the description I understood was, "The reel is a ..."

I've known people who tie flies, but I've not heard of anyone who makes their own rods. :applause:

8. Fly fishing is my love.

I've been a fly fisher since I was 14 years old and am already working on my 2 1/2-year old son's rig right now. I want to get him out on the river by this autumn.

To me, there is nothing more meditative than the beat of a fly rod over some crystal riffle.

but it's a nice one.

I matched the threads on the rod to my boss' dad's alma mater. So, when he gets the rod next week, that should throw him for a loop.

What you think are three rods are actually three sections of the same rod. The rod breaks down into four sections for transportability.

I've done fly fishing for years, but never had the skill or patience to try and build a rod. That just looks awesome.

I was just starting out getting into fly fishing when I developed a food allergy to most kinds of fish--so that sorta put the breaks on that activity...sigh.

HOwever, as you are well aware, I found another way to enjoy beautiful streams! :)
