What song best represents you?
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 08:46 PM by cynatnite
To better know who you are and what you're about, what song would best express that?

Only one that comes to mind for me right now would be 'Bitch' by Meredith Brooks.

1. There are three...number one is 'Voices' by Dream Theater...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WPl8DaQYdk

'Love, just don't stare'
He used to say to me
every Sunday morning
The spider in the window
The angel in the pool
The old man takes the poison
Now the widow makes the rules

'So speak, I'm right here'
She used to say to me
not a word, not a word
Judas on the ceiling
the Devil in my bed
I guess Easter's never coming
So I'll just wait inside my head

Like a scream but sort of silent
living off my nightmares

Voices repeating me
'Feeling threatened?
We reflect your hopes and fears.'
Voices discussing me
'Others steal your thoughts
they're not confined
within your mind.'

Thought disorder
Dream control
Now they read my mind on the radio
But where was the Garden of Eden?

I feel elated
I feel depressed
Sex is death, Death is sex
Says it right here on my Crucifix

Like a scream but sort of silent
living off my nightmares

Voices protecting me
'Good behavior
brings the Savior
to his knees.'
Voices rejecting me
'Others steal your thoughts
they're not confined
to your own mind.'

"I don't wanna be here, 'cause of my
suffering, 'cause of my illness.
Only love is worth having, only
love is what matters, loving every
people on equal terms. "
"You've got to know who you're
dealin' with because, like a stranger,
a-heh, just might come in through
here with a gun... and then, what
would you do? (Heh.)"
"Everything is immaterial..."
"'n' you know that reality is immaterial."
"This is not reality..."

I'm kneeling on the floor
staring at the wall
like the spider in the window
I wish that I could speak
Is there fantasy in refuge?
God in politicians?
Should I turn on my religion?
These demons in my head tell me to

I'm lying here in bed
Swear my skin is inside out
Just another Sunday morning

Seen my diary on the newsstand
Seems we've lost the truth to quicksand
It's a shame no one is praying
'Cause these voices in my head
keep saying...

'Love, just don't stare.'
'Reveal the Word when you're
supposed to'
Withdrawn and introverted
Infectiously perverted
'Being laughed at and confused
keeps us pleasantly amused
enough to stay.'

Maybe I'm just Cassandra fleeting
Twentieth century Icon bleeding
Willing to risk Salvation
to escape from isolation

I'm witness to redemption
heard you speak but never listened
Can you rid me of my secrets?
Deliver us from Darkness?

Voices repeating me
'Feeling threatened?
We reflect your hopes and fears.'
Voices discussing me
Don't expect your own Messiah
This neverworld which you desire
is only in your mind.

4. Number 2 is 'Solitary Shell' also by Dream Theater...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKsvTTOTXDA

He seemed no different from the rest
Just a healthy normal boy
His mama always did her best
And he was daddy's pride and joy

He learned to walk and talk on time
But never cared much to be held
and steadily he would decline
Into his solitary shell

As a boy he was considered somewhat odd
Kept to himself most of the time
He would daydream in and out of his own world
but in every other way he was fine

He's a Monday morning lunatic
Disturbed from time to time
Lost within himself
In his solitary shell

A temporary catatonic
Madman on occasion
When will he break out
Of his solitary shell

He struggled to get through his day
He was helplessly behind
He poured himself onto the page
Writing for hours at a time

As a man he was a danger to himself
Fearful and sad most of the time
He was drifting in and out of sanity
But in every other
way he was fine

He's a Monday morning lunatic
Disturbed from time to time
Lost within himself
In his solitary shell

A momentary maniac
With casual delusions
When will he be let out
Of his solitary shell

9. The last is '463' by Buck 65...
of course, there are many others, but these three lately are the ones i most identify with...

the music video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO9ar-kjUbw

live, awesome version, with a lot of funny stuff from buck himself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enjnsGjs-Rk

I don't know what's wrong with the youth of today
wandering lost it's true what they say
and who is to blame?
T.V and magazines,
they'd have you believe, everyday was halloween.
why, when I was a kid,
playing in the ditches
living in fear of satan and the witches
the whole world was made of wood and smelled like gasoline
the days were at least twice as long
and the grass was green.
running for my life
I was cursed by a talking snake
I'd walk all day
and throw rocks across a bottomless lake.
there was a killer in the woods who would whistle
once in a while I could hear him shoot his pistol
and the other kids hated me...
but like a martyr
I drove my self harder and harder
blood in my eyes.
scrubbing to get the dirt off
didn't say much didn't like to take my shirt off
was quick
but I didn't know the meaning of pain yet
I'd visit father Bob
and he would show me his train set
tell me a story, offer me a glass of milk
send me on my way with a question to ask myself
the rain didn't bother me
the search had meaning
church was good but I'd rather be dreaming
high speed horse shoes, harnneses and heavy string
problem is today they've got an answer for everything

4-6-3 an x an o and I can't think of a better way to end the day
4-6-3 a punch a kick and I can't think of a better way to end the day
4-6-3 a yes a no and I can't think of a better way to end the day
4-6-3 it's life, death and I can't think of a better way to end the day

learn the words
turnin' the double play
doing my damage in my own subtle way
I've been all over
I've seen to much
I no longer feel the need to rush
I'm upside down I'm inside out
broken glass all in my mouth
cut wide open and everybody knew why
cuz when it comes to rockin' something fierce
mmmm do I

4-6-3 an x an o and I can't think of a better way to end the day
4-6-3 a punch a kick and I can't think of a better way to end the day
4-6-3 a yes a no and I can't think of a better way to end the day
4-6-3 it's life, death and I can't think of a better way to end the day

'Song About a Girl Who Went Shopping' is a classic, and 'End of the Ramones' will have you ROFL (well assuming you are familiar with the Ramones right!)

Just a great record IMO.

I am waaaaay outta the loop with new bands- feel free to recommend any band that fits that crazy rock-n-roll stuff that I love from days gone by. Thanks!

I mean, I like Wilco (and they are probably the newest band I like) but they make me feel like my Rock-n-roll days are over!:(

Gotta be some new stuff that'll bounce me off the walls like the old stuff does! I do like some band on Myspace called the Vagos. But I can't even BUY or download their stuff. God they are raw and rough- complete amateurism in a very good way. Otherwise it's back to the usta be days of Rock-n-roll. And that is WRONG!

50. Right now, "You tell me that I'm falling down" by Linda Ronstadt
I wish I could find the video.

You tell me that I'm falling down
A drifter with no role
You tell me that I need a friend
To help me take control

Well let it be I'm not alone
I'm only lonely see
And you can't tell me where to go
Or what or who to be

I am exactly what I am
And not the way you'd like to see me be
I look outside long as I can
Then I close my eyes and watch my world unfold before me

I may not lead the simple life
I've no love of my own
If no one gives me all his heart
I'll manage with a loan

I'm very used to feeling sad
It doesn't make me cry
And yes I do know how to love
And what you say's a lie

I am exactly what I am
And not the way you'd like to see me be
I look outside long as I can
Then I close my eyes and watch my world unfold before me

You tell me that I'm falling down
A drifter with no role
You tell me that I need a friend
To help me take control

Well let it be I'm not alone
I'm only lonely see
And you can't tell me where to go
Or what or who to be

I am exactly what I am
And not the way you'd like to see me be
I look outside long as I can
Then I close my eyes and watch my world unfold before me

55. "Uncle John's Band" by the Dead.
Well the first days are the hardest days, dont you worry any more,
cause when life looks like easy street, there is danger at your door.
Think this through with me, let me know your mind,
Wo, oh, what I want to know, is are you kind?

Its a buck dancers choice my friend; better take my advice.
You know all the rules by now and the fire from the ice.
Will you come with me? wont you come with me?
Wo, oh, what I want to know, will you come with me?

Goddamn, well I declare, have you seen the like?
Their wall are built of cannonballs, their motto is dont tread on me.
Come hear uncle johns band playing to the tide,
Come with me, or go alone, hes come to take his children home.

Its the same story the crow told me; its the only one he knows.
Like the morning sun you come and like the wind you go.
Aint no time to hate, barely time to wait,
Wo, oh, what I want to know, where does the time go?

I live in a silver mine and I call it beggars tomb;
I got me a violin and I beg you call the tune,
Anybodys choice, I can hear your voice.
Wo, oh, what I want to know, how does the song go?

Come hear uncle johns band by the riverside,
Got some things to talk about, here beside the rising tide.

Come hear uncle johns band playing to the tide,
Come on along, or go alone, hes come to take his children home.
Wo, oh, what I want to know, how does the song go.

57. Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
By: jimmy buffett
1977
I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year
All of the faces and all of the places
Wonderin where they all disappeared
I didnt ponder the question too long
I was hungry and went out for a bite
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum
And we wound up drinkin all night

Chorus:
Its these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of our running and all of our cunning
If we couldnt laugh we would all go insane

Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places Ive been
Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure
Makes me want to go back again
If it suddenly ended tomorrow
I could somehow adjust to the fall
Good times and riches and son of a bitches
Ive seen more than I can recall

Chorus:
These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands
If we couldnt laugh we would all go insane

I think about paris when Im high on red wine
I wish I could jump on a plane
So many nights I just dream of the ocean
God I wish I was sailin again
Oh, yesterdays over my shoulder
So I cant look back for too long
Theres just too much to see waiting in front of me
And I know that I just cant go wrong

Chorus:
With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldnt laugh I just would go insane
If we couldnt laugh we just would go insane
If we werent all crazy we would go insane
