You shouldn't rely on DU so much for your emotional/intellectual life or as a support network.

DU, and GD in particular, like much of the online "community", is a haven for sociopaths, paranoid schizophrenics, and garden variety assholes.

It's best to view DU with bemusement and/or detachment. Being so absorbed with the opinions and random misfirings of the mentally ill is not healthy.

It's really not that hard to stay away. I check in for 10 minutes or so, then when the nausea kicks in, I step away... ;-)
