Comcast excels at SUCK like no other company.

Holy sweet Jesus they suck.
A third service call this weekend-at least this one I don't have to take off from work for.

We have had basically no internet since oh.... May. I have 5 operator's employee numbers written down at home. I actually call them when I try to log on just to go ahead and get the process started. Our own personal service tech has been to our house twice rewiring the outside (taking out the "HBO coupling") but even he has to wait on hold when he calls in a job-they don't have a separate line for the field techs if you can believe it. He installed Mozilla which is great but literally while he was standing there on his second visit we got bumped from our high-speed connection and HE had to call in to get it working again.

I have been through two modems. Waiting at the office is another treat let me tell you.

On and that $61.27 credit that "Terrell" promised??? No record of it in their system, of course it never showed up on our bill. My wife finally got them to credit us with two months of payments.

:grr:

8. Cable?
The weird part is that our cable is just fine. Literally one side of the room works great the other side-not at all.

2. My mother-in-law has it and I heartily concur with your assessment.
We have the whole Direc-TV/Verizon package (Satellite TV w/ TiVO, Phone, Cell Phone, DSL) and we LOVE IT. Once in a while the signal can get messed up when a storm blows through, but that's a small price to pay for really good service.

3. we dumped comcast a month ago
our internet went down everyday for hours at a time. We would call and call, they would give us all the excuses like the splitters were bad or the coax cable was substandard etc etc etc. We've had all the wires changed, all the splitters replaced, any multiple splitters with "open" ends capped and still, it went down every day for hours. Finally, we had enough and switched to DSL. Unless you are downloading a lot, the difference in speed seems negligible...and our sanity is restored. Comcast sucks big time...and they are delusional enough to think they have a monopoly. Times are changing fast and they aren't doing the necessary work of upgrading their own equipment like routers and servers. They overload the routers with too many customers and down it all comes. Glad we dumped them.

6. Well that is their part of the agreement
We pay them $43 a month for DSL and internet provider service and they provide said services. If that means that they need to run new wires well so be it. If they didn't figure that into the price (trust me, they did) then that is their problem and if they can't do it someone else will be more than willing to take those profits.

Our tech guy did the splitter thing too. Didn't seem to work much.

21. I think its gotten worse since they added their SHITTY phone service
We actually had few problems until Comc-ASSED unleashed this piece of garbage on consumers. Same deal, we had over 15 service calls to my mom's house, it was splitters, it was too small cable coming in the house, they "fixed" it, and then it was this, it was that. Just total Bullshit.

I thought my mom was going to beat someone, she was furious.

Say what you will, I had Adelphia in VA and then TimeWarner in OH, they were much better than Comc-ASSED could ever hope to be.

24. I think they're talking out of their asses most of the time when they tell you
What The Problem Is, Ma'am. It's so aggravating because they train their customer service people to be so friendly and polite the phone. Couldn't they just take the time to train their techs to hook up and maintain everything correctly? Wouldn't that mean far less customer service people were needed if there were fewer angry customers calling?

Our cable never worked right in all the years we had it. Almost every time the guy would come out (when he finally showed up), he'd tell us that the box for our building did not have a high enough capacity to handle all twelve units. Of course he'd never report that to Comcast so they could never confirm that, nor would they do anything about it. But then every few times someone would come out, they'd give us a whole *different* reason and claim to have fixed it. The cable would work for about a week then start sucking again, same as before.

25. Outsourced techs = disaster
Every tech that came to her house diagnosed a different problem. No continuity, no resolution. Just headaches. Oh, and every tech who came out proceeded to trash the last one who worked on something saying, they didn't know what the heck they were doing.

Nice guy. One of the times he had a trainee with him so I didn't hear any trash talking but I could see that. I seems to be more of an art rather than a science.

29. Oh, yeah. Same here. "He told you what?! No, he didn't know what he was talking
about. I fixed it now, you should be fine." Gee, it's so nice to hear that all the other techs don't know what they're talking about. Which of course was true, since the cable never actually got fixed. :eyes:

4. With Comcast, it is where you live that counts. Literally.
When I lived in the City, MediaOne/Comcast was the worst of the worst, and it was because of the pathetic infrastructure (and I know, because I worked at MediaOne). Where I am now in the County, the infrastructure is brand new and I rarely have any ISP issues with Comcast. Of course, now that Verizon has run fiber right to my door, I might be switching anyway.

7. Okay who owns it now?
It was Comcast then it was MediaOne then it was Comcast ....did I miss one in there? Seems like this monopoly has been changing hands like a grocery store in Carytown or something.

I didn't have any trouble IN the city. This is just ridiculous. We both basically forgot about it for weeks at a time simply because there is no need to get our expectations us, literally its like hope to get one more start out of an old battery.

11. It was MediaOne, then AT&T (that's when I split), then Comcast
Oh, the stories I could tell about their pathetic infrastructure, their overselling broadband (back in the RoadRunner days), and management so clueless it was a wonder most of them made it to work each day without incident.

13. We were just switched from TimeWarner to Comcast about a month ago
and the suckage is EPIC. Last night, I couldn't watch any of the movie channels because the signal kept jumping. Images are overcompressed, and whoever is now programming the digital music channels should be shot, keelhauled and fed to the f*cking crows. :grr:

Fortunately, we don't rely on cable for our internet service. I'm sorry you do.

18. Oh my maude. If I had Comcast for my internet connection I would've had a stroke by now.
I can live without cable tv, but not without internet. I remember lots of friends talking about how they signed up for Comcast phone/cable/internet and being so happy about it. I know they are all sorry now. I'm no fan of AT&T/SBC whatever, but our internet is only out about once every few months, and then only for 5 minutes or so. Five minutes every few months is about all we'd get of watchable cable with Comcast.

I would laugh if they didn't piss me off so much. The worst part is that it's for something as stupid as cable television. I just hate being dicked around. And I really hate wasting what few precious vacation days I have from my horrible job.

19. Okay that is true
but then you usually are dealing with Uhaul when you are moving which is one of the most stressful day(s) of your life.

We rented a tiny storage space from the Uhaul in the middle of Richmond a few years ago-- a "Indiana Jones final scene" looking area of tiny little storage spaces. We basically rented air from them for a year.

22. U-Haul really does suck. That's true. And they tend to suck at the worst possible
times, like when you need to move a house full of stuff in under 5 hours because the people helping you have to work later. That happened once when I was helping a friend move. By the time we got a (smaller) truck, there were only two people helping besides my friend. And he was moving from a 3rd floor unit to another 3rd floor unit. With no elevators. And it was 98 degrees that day. That was a lot of fun.

At least with U-Haul there are other options. There's Ryder and Budget and even actual movers (totally worth every penny IMHO).

But in many areas Comcast is the only freaking choice for cable. We can't even having satellite in our building for a number of reasons so it's either Comcast or bunny ears. We finally chose bunny ears because Comcast wasn't worth the hassle. And I was running out of vacation days waiting for fucking Comcast service "professionals" who never showed up.

Not that I'm bitter. :)

33. Speakeasy is another one that's suck-O.
Since I started with them in December, I've had only three months of a solid connection. A modem went bad. Then I started having outages you could set your watch by. They wanted to charge me $199 to have a techie re-wire my flat. As a renter, no way. Especially since they're talking about installing FIOS. I'd be throwing money away. Plus, if it's scheduled interference, rewiring will only fill some bastard's off-shore account. It's not old wiring.

I'm counting the months until the contract is up.
