Crap. I used to work with one of the Mpls bridge victims |

I used to work with Sherry Engebritsen eight years ago. I was never close with her but she was a very kind, generous person.
Dammit. :(

It's funny because you start to realize how small a town Minneapolis is when something like this happens.
I know one of the guys who lives in a building right by the bridge. He was on the radio, and he's still locked out of his building because he's too close to the scene.
One of my coworkers was on a cruise on the Mississippi River the same afternoon, and the boat was set to go under that bridge.
Not to mention the fact that I drive over the thing at least once a week. :scared:

I was talking with my SO yesterday about this - it's always a shock when a loved one is killed but there are some things that are not as surprising as others. Car accidents are horrible but not completely surprising.
Having someone die when a bridge collapses is just bizarre and I think it would be harder to wrap my head around. It seems so arbitrary.
Anyway, I'm sorry. I feel so badly for the victims and their families. :(
