Vacation begins tomorrow -- Pacific Northwest this time!
I did the Northeast/New England in May. I'm flying to Seattle tomorrow; then it's off to the San Juans for two days, then a tour of the Olympic Peninsula, back to Seattle, then a train trip to Portland for three days, back to Seattle to fly home to Michigan on the 13th.

I can't wait; it's been so hot here. The forecast looks fantastic. Long sleeves -- whoo hoo! :woohoo:

2. Sorry to burst your bubble.. It is hot as hell here too.
It is supposed to cool down soon. Check out Multnomah Falls when you are in Portland.

3. I've been to Multnomah Falls, actually
Impressive height but a mere trickle when compared to Tahquamenon Falls or, especially, Niagara Falls.

Pacific Northwest heat is far different than SE Michigan heat; I was in Portland once when it was 90; it felt like 80 does in Michigan because of the low, low humidity. And the forecast for the San Juans was highs in the 60s and lows in the low 50s. Mmmmmm.....

4. Amtrak is cancelling some of its train service between Seattle and Pdx.
They're still running a few trains, but you might double check to make sure that your train service isn't going to be disrupted. It looks like they're taking the Cascade trains offline for the time being - something about some service issues with those trains.

7. Yikes!
Sending the link to my sister who is arranging the transportation. That will stink -- big time.

9. It's a great train trip. I hope they get 'em all fixed up.
I love that train ride.

They'll probably have 'em all going again soon.
