Thanks - had to get a new computer - spent all day (and I do mean ALL day yesterday setting it up). phew.
was going into DU withdrawals and that aint a pretty sight.

Hooked up the monitor to the computer and hot-diggety-dog - no pix.
Got the Gateway Logo then a "no signal" message and then fade to black.
Hooked and re-hooked the monitor 5/6 times with no success. Unhooked the bloody monitor - took it back to Best Buy - exchanged it for another (actually larger) one - drove home - hooked it up - voila - same damned thing. Then I got the :think: to hook it up to my OLD computer and the damned thing worked. aarrrrrghhhhhhh. Unhooked everything from the new computer - packed it all up and drove back to BB once again to exchange computers. The "Geek Squad" guy said - where are you hooking up the monitor? - I pointed to the monitor hook-up spot and he said "There's your problem - you're supposed to use an alternate hook-up with a different plug. DAMMIT - the instructions didn't mention that at all."
Crikey - Drove home re-hooked everything using the *alternate hook-up* spot and the damned thing worked.
I'm sick and tired of climbing under this desk and out again. Plus the bruises and rugburns on my knees.
So- how did YOUR day go??
