Soooo....Why did they kill Sonny, exactly?

I'm watching the Godfather, yet again...I never can follow it well.

Why was Sonny gunned down?

I so wish he had been able to take out Carlo first. :shrug:

He killed a lot of the Barzini/Tataglia soldiers and was impacting the income of all the Families.

Look at the board room table - each Don (who Michael kills during the Baptism scene) has a bowl with oranges in front of him. And of course Corleone was at an orange stand when he was shot...
