WHY?

Why do people find it so amazing to put a bullet through these amazing creatures?

The Spring Grizzly bear hunt lottery is coming up soon. I get kinda zealous. I'm not against hunting things like duck or deer. But why bears?

1. I don't know but
I've seen some really awfull videos of what are called "canned kills" of lions, it's pretty heart wrenching.

2. compare the trophy
Ducks and even deer are small time compared to a grizzly. Its the whole "I killed something that could tear me in half with one swipe of its paw" kinda thing, I guess.

4. Is that it?
Because I can understand deer and such, at least people eat them. But trophy hunting just makes me sick to no end.

19. I guess so
I don't know anyone who's ever gone grizzly hunting. I guess it also might be the challenge. I figure grizzly hunting is harder since their are much fewer grizzlies than their are deer, and the Discovery Channel likes to talk about how reclusive they are.

In other words, I dunno for sure.

7. What I can't believe
I was reading the Alberta hunting website. If you're 13, you can hunt any bird with any legal weapon. But if you want to hunt big game, you have to have use a bow and arrow......... so we're stack up wild animals against kids with bow and arrows.....that's real smart. Let's just say the kid gets a shot off...will it be powerful enough to kill the animal quickly? Or will it just tick it off and maul the 13 year old to death.

3. Can't tell you, Hey
The few times I've seen bears in the wild, I have felt so privileged! It pains me even to think of people killing them.

5. Because it's cool
When the bullet goes out of the body and the hole at the back is like bigger then the entrance hole and theres like blood everywhere.. that's like cool

9. over population?
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 10:15 PM by rchsod
in some areas of northern il the deer population is over 250+ per square mile. even with our three deer seasons some areas the herds are growing. we got rid of the wolves and other large predators years ago. over population is far more serious a problem than regulated hunters.

Reminds me of a TV show I saw about a Native American police officer living on a reservation. As he let his cat out, he said, "Remember, eat what you kill."

18. Actually...
I know people who eat bear meat around here. The problem is if you don't cook it enough, you can get prety fucking sick.
