I fell in love with Olvera Street today!
I loves me an outdoor market!

No photos because I forgot my camera :dunce:

A great time was had by all three of us. We drove to Union Station and parked. Bought all day metro passes. Took the train to the Jewelry District, ate breakfast at Cliftons Cafeteria. Then we took the train and the bus to Hollyweird and walked around there. Then we took the train back to Union Station and went to Olvera Street.

:)

1. Do you know....I've never been there, my dear KW!
I'll bet you had fun...

And I'll bet you're tired too!

Did you shop?

That's OK about your camera....there's always a next time!

:hi:

2. We sort of shopped
Only bought a couple of souvenir things, but man, I wanted to buy a whole bunch of the Mexican embroidered blouses.

4. You were in my neighborhood?!?!
(insert exasperated sound here) Aw, I wish I'd known. I'd at least have walked around Hollywood with you, and pointed out some cool stuff.

And yup, Olvera street is VERY cool.

Glad you had a good time!

5. We had planned to go to LA, but had not planned to go to Hollywood
but since we had the metro passes, we decided to go. My daughter got a little bored with it, that is, until we found the fountains inside the courtyard of the Kodak Theatre. Needless to say, she got wet, and we ended up buying her a pair of shoes (because I did not want her to get blisters walking around in wet socks and shoes).

7. We were actually planning on going to Clifton's today
but we were too hungry and didn't end up making it to Clifton's. We just went to the Toy District to buy some party favors.

9. I believe it starts on Los Angeles St.
I could be wrong about that. We got off at the Pershing Square stop, walked up 4th, and just entered the Toy District. It's next to the Fashion District.

11. Yeah
If you need to buy a bunch of stuff, they have good deals for wholesale. My mom's bf is having a birthday party for his daughter and he ended up buying little party favors like squishy balls and little toys. There are some things being sold retail and the prices seem pretty good. It's pretty draining though because of all the walking and the the crowds.

I just ordered a bunch of party favors for my daughter's birthday party from Oriental Trading.

Oh well, next year.

13. That is so funny...we took the kids down there last weekend. We took the
Gold Line from Sierra Madre (which the kids loved) and spent part of the day wandering around Olvera street.

I love the jewelry district, too. I always find a cool watch when I'm down there.

I love it. So much cool stuff that you don't need and can't live without.
